I should have known that for less than $20 this would not work. It might be great for tee ball and pee wees but after that its not very useful.

I was a little skeptical of this contraption at first, given what other reviews have said about the floor mounted UPM machines and the need to mount them very firmly to ensure accuracy - I figured how could my shaky aim ever come close to a floor mounted system? Well so far I've been pleasantly surprised as this is a great fielding/pitching machine, just don't expect it to pitch real baseballs or softballs fast - the instructions estimate around 30mph for real balls and that seems about correct. Where this pitching machine excels is with the Jugs Lite-Flite balls (I've tried both baseball and softball versions) these are lighter than the two high density foam balls which the machine comes with and in my hands have been a lot more accurate. It can pitch rapid 60 (ish) mph strikes from ~45 feet with these balls very consistently with is plenty fast enough for little leaguers. I've also tried with wiffle balls, but the optimum pitching ball is definitely the lite-flite's in terms of accuracy. Machine is light (body is ABS plastic) and appears well make. Needs a little bit of effort to set the speed, but the pitching arm itself is relatively easy to draw back - although I wouldn't let any of my kids use it as there's some chance of accidental injury if you let the arm go at the wrong time. Can see myself using this as a pitching machine for my kids as a lot more accurate than I am throwing and also for grounder/pop-fly drills - all in all a great buy so far.
