The heating element is very exposed. I couldn't get it to produce cotton candy no matter how much sugar I used. I bought a different brand, it worked great.

Bought this for a bit of fun for Christmas Day after presents and dinner. Great idea! The kids loved it and even the adults enjoyed this unexpected treat. Per reviews, I bought the cheap flossing sugar and it tasted just like I had at fairs in the 70s. Cooking tip: the bowl should be cleaned after about 5-6 uses as the sugar builds up around the edge and it's very hard to get the fluffy cotton candy appearance then. It cleans up very quickly. Less than 5 minutes. Only 3 parts to clean and all you really need is hot water. I only clean with soap once I've finished using the machine. The sugar that builds up around the lip can be saved and eaten, like a jolly rancher candy. I just ordered more sugar because it's so easy to make and clean up and the kids are all smiles when eating it. Can't wait to try the green apple flavor. 5/5 would buy again.
