Purposeful fleece lined

This jacket is perfect for so many different weather situations, water repellent for unexpected cloud bursts, windbreaker for cool spring or fall days. There's a warm fleece lining. It's very soft and flexible, great for golfing, biking, fishing - any sport or activity where you need your jacket flexible enough to move with you. It's available in extended sizes, which I need, so that's great. The fit is good, the arms are long enough. It would be hard to find a better all around jacket - especially at this price point.

Exactly what I wanted fit is great and is warm

The Maelreg softshell jacket seems to be well made. It laundered easily (I followed the instructions on the label on the inside of the garment). After washing, most of the wrinkles that were present when the jacket came out of its shipping container were gone.I'm a relatively difficult size to fit. I'm 6'4" tall and I have somewhat of a slim build. I usually buy a size Large Tall when that size is available. Before ordering this jacket, I found the sizing information included in the product info. As advised, I measured a piece of clothing of mine that fit me well and compared it to the measurements of the jacket. To my surprise, the measurements indicated that a size large should fit me, with the only issue being that the sleeves might be a bit short -- something all too common for me.When I got the jacket, I was pleasantly surprised by the fit. The jacket was comfortable in almost all dimensions. While the sleeves aren't long enough for this to be comfortable to drive in, they are quite adequate for activities that don't require stretching out my arms. I'll use this most often for walking the dog, and for that, the sleeve length is just fine.The one surprise is that the sleeves are relatively tight. The fit in the shoulders is snug and all the way down the sleeves they fit pretty tight around my arms. If you're one of those guys who never misses "arm day" this jacket might be a bit too tight for you. The jacket does have some give to it since it is 8% spandex, but even spandex only stretches so far.I have not yet had a chance to test the water resistance of the jacket, but I can tell you that it is quite effective against the wind.The jacket definitely keeps you warm. I'd guess that you could wear this in temperatures down to the mid 40s Fahrenheit and be quite comfortable if you had an additional layer underneath. However, given that the sleeves are tight and that the sleeves are also lined with fleece, it might be difficult to actually wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath this jacket. Depending on what material your long-sleeved shirt is made of the jacket may not be that easy to slip on over the shirt.The side pockets are adequate for putting your hands in to warm them up, but I would not trust them for keeping anything safe from falling out. If you want to store your phone, your wallet, or your keys you'll definitely want to use the zip pocket.The tag attached to the jacket claimed this garment features a wicking action to draw moisture away from the body to keep you dry. For my purposes, the wicking action did not seem effective. After taking a mildly vigorous walk with my dog, my arms and body were pretty wet with perspiration when I got home and removed the jacket.When looking at the pictures of the jacket I wasn't sure what to think of the "embossed pattern" on the upper part of the garment. I thought it might add some interest to an otherwise plain-looking jacket. After receiving the jacket and wearing it, I have decided that I do not like this feature. This is a personal preference and not something that affects my rating, it's just something you should be aware of. You might love this look, or you might not. I'd advise you to look carefully at the photos before you make a purchase.If you're not a body builder and you're looking for a windbreaker that adds an additional level of warmth, then this Maelreg softshell jacket would be a good choice. Just make sure you like the look of the embossed pattern.
