Un diseño de simplicidad, potencia e ingenio
El telescopio Maksutov lleva el nombre de Dmitri Maksutov, un óptico y astrónomo soviético/ruso que inventó este diseño de telescopio en 1941. Aunque no es tan conocido como el refractor o reflector newtoniano, el Maksutov-Cassegrain ofrece un excelente rendimiento óptico. El diseño corrige los problemas ópticos conocidos como el coma (que se encuentra en los telescopios reflectores) mientras que también corrige la aberración cromática (que se encuentra en los refractores). El resultado son vistas detalladas de alto contraste de objetivos terrestres o celestes. Despite the toy-like appearance, this is a real telescope capable of resolving planetary objects very well. Bought as a holiday gift for my six-year old daughter, very satisfied.

The scope seems to function fine. I have tried it at various times of the early AM and only could see stars, no planets. I hope to find some planets to really test it on at some point. I am a total noobie to telescopes and astrophotography; one thing to note if you want to take pictures with your phone is that it doesn't really seem compatible with mine, as it has three lenses and the adapter is really meant for a single lens. Attempts with it didn't work out; but it's also hard to get my phone's camera to really see anything in the dark. The adapter does hold my phone, however. If the scope is pointed at a sharp angle or straight up, the phone may cause it to fall over, as the scope is that light lol. So maybe some way of tying down the mount might be a good idea. The magnification doesn't really seem all that significant, and the one time I looked at the moon I'm not sure I could see craters that significantly. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the product however, as I looked inside and it all seemed in order. In any case it can probably be modified for that purpose. I definitely think it's a great deal for this price point.

Bought this little guy for our tiny apartment. It's small enough to store on our bookshelf and the color helps it blend in to our glassware/other objects. The dobsonian mount is slick, and allows us to easily scan the sky without a bulky tripod.Optics are quite sharp for its size. For raw aperture, you can get more from a reflector scope like the 100 or 114 scopes. However, with the maksutov cassegrain design, you are trading off aperture for sharpness. For planets and terrestrial objects, this will easily outperform any scope you will find in its price range. The scope also came perfectly collimated from the factory.The only downside is lack of ability to see deep sky objects because of the small aperture. However, I am in the city and this is out of the question anyway.I love this scope, I am blown away by it. It's perfect for beginners (even has a little side latch to show how the optics work)!
