I used this in tight spaces and it works perfectly. I keep it in a plastic bag, though, because it could be impregnated with fire-resistant chemicals and pfoas.

Liked the fireproof nature of this material, but did not like the ease with which it disintegrated. especially after soaking it in a full tub of water to maximize the water retention. It is not as good as asbestos fabric, which is longer lasting and does a better job.

I had to replace couple of 90 on the hydronic baseboard in very close proximity to painted drywall.Works great, not a single burn mark on the walls. The only downside is the smell coming from it when it gets hot so make sure you have proper ventilation in the area you are working.Follow the instructions and keep it dump and it will work great.

Good welding blanket - I really like the cutout to make it easy to position around a pipe. It has snaps to hold the blanket together after you place it over the pipe. The material is a bit thin for my liking - it doesn't seem very heavy duty. But I did use it for a project that required about 20 soldered joints close to a wall and the blanket did its job just fine - no damage to the wall at all. The blanket did smoke a bit the first few blasts with the torch, but then I guess the flammable bits burned off and it worked fine after that. After my project, I noticed the blanket started to tear a little bit at the hole. It can still be used just fine, and I only needed it for the project, but I wish it was a bit thicker and heavier duty feeling.

Blankets is sold as fireproof and intended for plumbing soldering task, to prevent causing a structure fire. I used my small propane torch (not the standard, larger size) to play the flame about 2" away from the matt to simulate soldering of a 1/2" copper tee. Within seconds smoke was coming off the blanket. Holding the torch still for a few seconds caused heavier smoke that then burst into flames. After a few more seconds, the blanket started to curl; it did not disintegrate or melt. It would be suicide to use this blanket in an enclosed space. Returned product obviously. Bought a fiberglass/vermiculite mat on Amazon from a USA supplier that serves industry and military. Applied same test and it resulted in some off-gassing and mild odor and no flames or change in physical properties other than discoloration. I kept that product.
