For what is suppose to be a "kid's camera", it's rather advanced. Make sure you keep the directions handy, because there's a bit of a learning curve. (although I've noticed that kids grasp the technology faster than us oldsters). The direction book has some good diagrams, and fairly straightforward instructions on how to use various settings, and accessing the camera menus. However, I found it a little bit of work to navigate around things. But I don't think that's necessarily the camera's fault, I don't have full and normal use of my right arm due to injury. The on/off, take picture buttons placement is slightly different that people may be use to, the on/off is on the side. (But at least you can't accidentally turn it off, thinking your taking a pic). The wide/telephoto buttons are on the top back of the camera, clearly marked and easily accessible. The camera generally takes decent pictures, but it seems to pixelate when in max telephoto setting. (see attached pics) 1st photo is at max wide angle, about 25-28 ft from the goose. The 2nd is while standing in the same place, but set at max telephoto mode (and bird's about 10' closer. 3rd is from about 10' away, with some "telephoto" applied. Last pic was set at wide angle, about 8' away. all in all, good pictures. the one major thing that I don't like, (hence the 4 stars) is the slow shutter response time. the camera auto focuses, first with a yellow box on the subject, then goes green when focused. But, now comes the issue. Continue to press the pic button down and HOLD it down, while not moving. There is a 2 - 3 second delay before it takes the picture (loud click) if you move, or quickly press the button the picture is going to be blurry every time. This was the hardest thing for me to get use to. Once I figured that out, it takes good pictures. I would probably not recommend this for anyone under 12, but for 11-12 or older, with a little practice, they should be able to take great pictures. It's more than just a point and shoot camera.

I wanted to have a separate camera like this instead of always having to use my phone for photos. This is very versatile and user friendly out of the box. I went through and got all the settings I needed done within minutes. It came with a really cute lanyard which will be good for my kids keeping track of it and holding on to it. It comes with a nice 64Gb card rather than others that seem to only come with 32. Great purchase.
