It doesn’t aerate the water however it does slow it down to about 1.8 gallons per minute. The one I had before this aerated the water you can see bubbles inside the stream. I was going to give this a bad review and then did some research. Turns out this aerator works different it allows for clear water flow thus laminate flow. It’s a little bit more than the rated 1.5 gallons but it does work very well restricting the water flow and making a clear stream without the bubbles. I actually prefer it this way so forgive me Moen I was wrong. It fits perfectly on my faucet and I really like the flow of clear water instead of aerated water which I was so used to before. Would 100% recommend as a replacement or even if you don’t need replacement get this one it produces much better clear stream of water. Very happy overall.

Works great, installs quickly. The factory part was surprisingly hard to find locally. Just another example of ordering instead of shopping a bunch of places and not finding the item you need. It was also cheaper. Word of advice, research the exact part number you need. The more common version is larger and won't work.

Hard to believe they have different sizes for such a simple thing. After tons of research I was convinced this was the right one for my circa 2012 Moen bathroom faucet. The plastic tool removes the old aerator from my Sips faucet well enough. My problem is that it's not designed to be cleaned and re-used, like a normal aerator. I was able to take the bottom and top halves apart using a paring knife to pry it open, and then clean the screens at the bottom. However, I couldn't figure out how to take the upper part apart. Overall, I think I get it cleaned, but not everyone or even most likely will. $6 isn't a lot of money once a year, but it seems like it could have been designed to be cleaned- easily- and re-used. I'm guessing they're not making a lot of money on this, although I could be wrong. So, 3 stars or 4- hard to decide. It would have been 5 if it were designed to be cleaned. BTW, Moen support was five stars.
