First impressions: this thing is so nice. Cool to touch, thin but weighted… I haven’t had the chance to sleep with it yet but just getting under it, I can already tell it’s a keeper. It feels really nice and I will sure update you all!

The Mommesilk summerweight comforter is described as:“Our silk comforter is filled with such premium quality grade 6A mulberry long strand silk”But if you’re at all familiar with silk duvets, you’ll be disappointed to open your new Mommesilk and find it’s filled with clusters of lower quality, wild “tussah” silk. This is a big step down from the 6A, long strand Mulburry silk advertised.Tussah silk is not long strand (think: a big gauzy sheet of very strong cotton candy) and appears as “clumps” in the photo. Another reviewer noted the same thing.I contacted Mommesilk to confirm and received the following reply:Dear Customer,Thank you for your inquiry.Yes, the summer comforter is made from tussah silk.Spot cleaning is recommended. Mix a couple of spoons of white vinegar or lemon juice with lukewarm water.- Dab the stains with a clean white cloth. Do not rub the stain. Hang dry if possible.- This comforter is machine washable, but sun-curing is more recommended for better care.If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.Best regards,Vivian###Really disappointing!Note: the all-season version *does* appear to be filled with long-strand quality silk, as advertised. It’s very nice and very different than the lower quality summer weight model.

When I first opened I thought it was a little thin, but that’s how these are. It’s a different feeling how they lay against your body vs down. I can’t say enough good things about this blanket. It keeps you warm when you need to be warm yet cool when you need to be cool. To me it seems like it regulates. I suggested this blanket to a friend who then bought one for everyone in their house. I do suggest to get a 100% cotton duvet as the shell of this one is cotton. It is real silk and very good quality.

The quilt is perfect for the summer. It’s lightweight and soft. However, the quilt is NOT silk. The outside shell is cotton, but the stuffing is silk. That’s not why I took away a star. Once you wash the quilt and hang it to dry, it is SOOOO wrinkled. You will have to press the quilt with an iron or steamer (the iron is faster) before putting it back on your bed. You may be better off buying a duvet cover for the quilt so you only have to wash the cover more often.
