Very thin. May not hide the upholstery staples. I already sent one roll back. I don't like being cheated.

Easy to use when I was recovering dining room chairs. Made a smooth hidden seam for back top of chair.

I’ve dabbled in refinishing and reupholstering furniture for years, especially family hand-me-downs. Rocking chairs with upholstered backs and seats were popular and have naturally been transferred from one generation to the next. Upholstery tacks were eventually replaced with staples, so by the time I repaired them, all those tacks and staples needed to be pulled out. In some cases the wood had become pot-holed and worse-for-wear, making it hard to find a place to secure a new tack. Frequently, the fabric and trim would come loose due to the dubious condition of the wood underneath. That’s where this half-inch pliable cardboard tacking strip comes in. The fabric folds under the strip and stabilizes it before gluing/tacking it into place and doesn’t show. I like adding a bead of glue to the fabric and strip to add more strength. Keep in mind that every time one sits in a chair there is stress on the fabric and tack/staple. If the wood is potted with years of tiny holes, eventually the new tacks will wiggle loose. This tacking strip helps prevent the stress on the fabric and nail and helps stabilize the finished project. It also keeps the fabric from fraying and raveling.I find this product very useful and recommend it to others who want to reupholster that well loved hand-me-down. Order this product, watch a couple of YouTube videos, and give it a try.

I ordered this roll of Upholstery Tack Strip to use on my dining room chairs. At first, if thought the roll was defective, because I could not get the cardboard material to separate correctly - instead, it just ripped down the middle of the paper strip. However, I peeled back more of it, including what was glued to the other side, and it seemed ok after that. The material is very thin cardboard. It bends and creases easily, so I was afraid that it would also rip or tear readily too, but that was not the case, thankfully. It was easily stapled to the edging of the underside of the chairs.I am glad it did not give up on using it, as the finished product on the undersides of the chairs appears to be good.
