Needed a basket for my Honda Trail 125 and tried this basket. It may be collapsible, but the "Clips" that keep it open I was afraid was to weak. Just a bump and the basket would collapse. It was kind of small for my needs also, wouldn't hold my fishing tackle.

Pain to install when there you will likely leave it there. Sides do not perfectly latch on front and back and tend to leave small gap at the top. The mesh does not have dedicated slots for hooks so tends to easily loose rubber ends on hooks disengaging. When driving over anything not totally smooth it rattles a lot when folded and loud - holding down by mesh does not help much. I think Installing custom 3D TPU printed bumps on sides may fix it. Big red reflecting strip prevents mounting of the bicycle light that will work even when the box is folded. I guess it is a glorified milk crate maybe not that sturdy but folding. Folding arguably useful…still quite wide unfolded pedal like size. If you mount this box on folding 20” bike test if you can still fold the bike with the box attached.

I have a folding ebike that is mostly used on camping trips. Space for transporting the bike is limited, so when I saw how another camper had mounted a collapsible crate to the back of his bike, I ordered one. I never got around to adapting and mounting that crate, but when I saw the MOSHAY foldable basket on Amazon, I ordered it right away. This basket is much heavier molded that the foldable crate – which would probably not have survived a bike fall-over. Strength does come at the cost of increased weight, though, so be aware that this basket weighs in at just under 5 pounds. The molding is largely solid with maximum 1/2” openings in the sides and four 1/2x1” openings in the bottom corners, so you won’t have a problem with small objects falling out. It takes a bit of practice to quickly unfold and latch the sides of basket, but the design is good and the unfolded basket is quite rigid. Note from the included instructions that there are finger grips on the sides that release four latches for folding the basket. It folds down to a 3” height. “Carry handles” are molded into the top of the sides, but unless you devise some sort of quick release mount, they won’t be useful. The basket is plenty strong enough for a handhold while walking or parking your bike. The provided mounting hardware should work for attaching the basket to the top of an existing rear rack on most bikes. The hardware is not stainless steel, so consider swapping it out if you want to avoid rust. My Lectric XP 3.0 has threaded flanges on top of the rack that, unfortunately, line up with molded “ribs” that run the length of the bottom of this basket. Because of this, the basket has to be mounted ¾” to one side to use the provided hardware. I plan to drill shallow relief holes for the flanges in the bottom of my basket and through holes for mounting with the Lectric provided mounting screws into the threaded flanges . This will make a nice install with no under-the-rack brackets needed. These complications are in no way the fault of the basket design. There is simply no way to make a basket that will be a perfect fit for every bike. This is an excellent foldable rear bike basket that I am glad I ordered.

Due to subzero temps and a nagging cough from the flu, I have not tested this in action on my bike, but I will definitely be putting it on my bike and expect to get some good use out of it soon. The plastic this is made out of seems fairly sturdy and durable. The side panels have some give, even when cold from sitting on my porch, so I wouldn't expect the plastic to be very brittle on chilly days. The bottom piece is molded with pretty strong ribs, so it's plenty rigid. The sides fold up and clip together in about 30 seconds, although it's not the smoothest. The way they clip together is probably okay, but doesn't feel the most secure when empty (for instance, if you kicked it getting on your bike, it would maybe fold up). Once loaded, any outward force is going to help keep things locked together. I would expect the hinges to be the weak point, but they also won't be taking too much force when loaded.Folding back down is just as quick. There are two sliding latches on each side panel that that you pull and then fold down the side. Once folded, the pieces are supposed to click together, but one side of the back panel on my basket is kind of loose, so I'll probably strap everything down with a bungee to keep things from flying up if I hit a bump. It gives a wider base than just a bare rack, so it would be helpful for strapping down larger items that can't fit in the basket.Size seems pretty good. Grocery bags come in different sizes, but the width is perfect for a paper bag from Target (which is what I had on hand) and you should expect to be able to fit two fully loaded grocery bags in here with maybe a little extra space. It will fit 4 standard gallon milk jugs with room to spare or possibly up to 6 of the taller/narrower gallon containers (although I would not want that kind of weight on a rear rack). I would expect it to hold most backpacks. It's not light, probably heavier than a wire rack of similar size, but it's not a huge concern for me (when it comes to biking, I'm about the journey and all my bikes are steel).I can't directly speak to how easy it is to install yet, but there are seven rows of six screw slots to choose from, so it should mount to just about any rack, either directly or with the included steel cross pieces. The included cargo net is fine. The rubber covering on the steel hooks is not durable (one of the hooks wasn't holding onto the net very well, so I gave it a gentle squeeze with pliers and that damaged the rubber) so watch out for sharp ends. You get a nice big reflector on the back and some holes that could probably be used to mount a light.Overall, this basket seems sturdy and like a decent choice for the price point. It's a good choice for if you want to be able to grab a few groceries or carry a backpack without your back getting sweaty from wearing it.
