So this seems like a decent part it unfortunately was not the right part for my Polaris sportsman 400. That suckss but o well. That said it looks and feels like a quality part and I'm sure it would work if it actually for my machine

The main bendix itself looks and feels like as good of quality as the one that came out. However, it did not come with any housing bushings. I'm not certain, but allegedly the Polaris brand bendix do come with those bushings. They are certainly not a separately orderable part.After reassembling the flywheel cover, we had similar symptoms of the starter spinning, but the bendix not engaging the flywheel. So it seems that either this replacement part is faulty, or there's another symptom going on (but I don't know what.) This is a cheap enough part that it won't be too bad to buy another, but the time involved isn't worth it.
