This is a mostly positive review. The electronics and AF does work. It is slower to respond than the Canon version, but it does work. Unfortunately, my biggest gripe is the entire plastic housing. But again, read my review title. You do get what you pay for. If you did not want to worry about damaging or losing your expensive tube in the field, then this would be a great alternative. In a controlled studio/home environment, I see this as a fantastic alternative as well. I do not anticipate this would hold up to much damage.I use this primarily to get my 24-70L closer for reef aquarium hobby pictures without having to purchase an expensive macro lens.

This is a neat add on for the camera bag and it's not expensive (I got it with an Amazon lightning deal so it was even lower priced). I'm still learning, not an expert, so I like finding things that work and don't cost a lot while I'm experimenting. This acts as a spacer to give you more space to get closer to your subject, like a flower or insect. One side is designed to fit the camera, the other end to fit your lenses. It came with a dust cover cap on both ends, you have to like that. Instructions were included and were clearly worded with clear pictures as well. They even tell you to line up the white dots for certain types of lenses, red dots for other types. You will need to turn off your lenses auto focus and use manual focus with these lower cost lenses but with macro photography that's not a big issue. This product is made with a plastic housing but it seems to be sturdy and should be fine. It's currently winter here so I haven't used it much yet, just Christmas food close-ups, inside lighting, but it should do the job and for a price of $10-$12, how can you go wrong with macro experiments like an ant on a wooden gate, right? If you get real close to the subject, you may need to add extra lighting.
