These are firmer than a standard waffle ball and much sturdier and better made. They are still way lighter than a baseball though.Most importantly, they don’t hurt if you get hit with one- so they are great for play with little kids.In general my kids are using them a ton to play tee ball in the yard and also at the beach right along with their sand toys and for games they make up and play on the hard sand at low tide.They are rugged enough that they can take a spin in the ocean or get left outside for a few days in rain and still be totally fine.The materials and make of them are good.I’d say that they are a decent deal for the price.Overall I’d recommend them.

Whenever our Nephews come over, the ones that favor baseball will usually practice their swing with me. We're out in the country, on a good size stretch of land, so we can actually practice with regular balls and bats. But so as not to wing a wayward chicken or other animal, we stick to foam and wiffle-style hollow airflow balls. These Nerf balls make for a more realistic approach towards pitching, or anticipating anything other than an easy-to-tag ball that can't change directions.The packaging that that they come in has diagrams that show the proper way to hold the ball for each of the three specialty pitches: fastball, curveball, slider. So aside from the added visibility of the bright green half, the benefit of the ball design is how easy it will be for kids to remember how to position their fingers and where. So even if you gift this to a child that isn't familiar with the mechanics of throwing a curveball, it's okay. They can clearly see right on the packaging how they should be holding it. And from there, it's just a matter of practice, getting a hang of the weight of the ball compared to wiffle balls, that sort of thing.What I appreciated most was how easy it is to throw a curveball, just based on finger position and no extra effort. It's subtle, but noticeable. We're still working on ways to get an even more dramatic curve out of it.What I also found interesting - and I'm not sure why Nerf doesn't advertise this - is that the balls were made by Franklin Sports. If you have a kid into ANY type of sports, then you already know Franklin Sports makes quality products. I can't even begin to count the number of products we've ordered from Franklin Sports related to football, baseball, basketball, soccer. Point is, it's a name that every sports parent knows, and a name that we all trust. So I just found it interesting that Nerf doesn't really put it out there that the balls were designed and manufactured by Franklin Sports for their brand. It would make parents more likely to buy them. Since Nerf is trusted brand, but one I associate more with "toys" and foam stuff than actual sports products.I'd say buy these. It's only ten bucks. We spend more than that going through a drive-through, or on coffee. Stuff you'll enjoy one time. Or, you can spend ten bucks on these balls, which will also encourage your kids to spend more time outdoors. Unplugged from the phone, tablet, the Switch, TV, etc. Just having fun outside like we all used to. Got ten bucks on your bank card? Of course you do, so add these to your cart, check out. They'll show up in the mail in just a day or two. Why put it off, buy them today.

These are a good size and fit a child's hand easily. Obviously, can be used indoors or out. The small grandkids like them!
