I'm a fulltime filmmaker and I was intrigued by this dummy battery. Let's begin addressing a reviewer that said his camera does not recognize the battery and shuts off. This is a camera firmware issue, not the battery. Granted I don't think this one has the encoder chip, the dummy actually feels like is an empty shell. Not going to bust it open to see if there is a circuit inside.I was mostly interested in the USB C cable charging capability. Quite ingenuous this USB cable inputs 5v and outputs 9v. I measured the output of the cable and got 9v. I don't know if there is a step down voltage regulator to get is to 8.4v for the Sony NP-FZ100 voltage. I put this in my a7IV and let it be for a few minutes. The camera took it fine and did not shut down as the other reviewer companied.I also did a 4k 30p recording test and it went fine. Now, I'm NOT using the supplied power adaptor, I'm using a high end USB C power. I also tested it with a USB C power bank and it worked well, but drained the bank faster than normal.I am usually a bit weary to use AC power to power cameras because if there is a significant AC peak fluctuation (that happen quite often) depending how well the regulator works you may have damages in you camera mother board. Those cameras were NOT designed to operate on AC power and have no surge protection built in their circuits, so this is a concern for long use with AC power. I know a studio here in North Texas that uses similar adaptors and never had problems, but I ruined a canon camera a few years ago using an AC adaptor so I'm a bit worried on using this solution. At any rate this adaptor works well, don't know how reliable it its. For mission critical applications I ALWAYS use batteries.

Works perfectly for me for my FX30. A must have for long term use or rigging. Works as expected and I am super pleased!

Pros; This dummy battery works to power my Sony A7IV, kept it fully charged for over 1.5 hours of video recording & photos, it'salso come with a pretty long ~6ft power cord that plugs into the wall to provide continuous power, helpful for long studio recording sessions to keep the camera powered. Its also very easy to use just plug into the outlet and place into the camera. Alternatively it it.comds with a USBC charging cord that can be plugged into a powerbank(if on the go) or a wall block to plug in an outlet. I think its pretty affordable when comparing to an OEM sony battery & i have seen it on sale frequently as of writing thisCons: you need to be close to an outlet to use it(unlike a battery where your camera can be placed anywhere), so this isn't practical for all photography & videographer uses. It has a USB charging adapter but with that you are better off just using a regular battery as youncan get contunous power unless its plugged into an outlet. You also cannot close the battery door when its in the camera, and i find it makes my camera heat up faster than the regular sony batteries.Overall I would definitely recommend this dummy battery to others 😊👍🏾
