What every electricity equipped kitchen should have! Precision Induction Cooker (PIC) by NuWave is magnificent. USABLE increments of heat, precision timing, SAFE cooking surface, cooking degree monitoring, intuitive usage, nearly infinite selection of inducing pans available, portability- and these are just the beginning of reasons to look at, study, buy, and use the NuWave system. I live in a small studio apartment- part of an assisted living facility. There being NO stoves, this is an exceptional answer to my needs. I love to cook, and though the staff here tries, at 75, I’m stuck in my ways. This device, and I also have the NuWave Wok system, and a host of pots and pans that are also induction, make my life so much more enjoyable. This has certainly returned an aspect of fun to my rather mundane life. Try it, and you will be excited to once again be able to cook tasty meals…

For the most part, I love to cook with this induction plate. It's my first experience with one so I don't have anything else to compare to. The cooling fan in the unit does run constantly whenever you're cooking, and I suspect that's necessary to keep the electronics and the magnetic induction coil cool. I wouldn't say that it's terribly loud, but it's not very quiet either. Noise is subjective and it doesn't really bother me.I like the fact that it has granular temperature adjustments within 5° measurements, and you can adjust during the cooking operation without pausing or stopping. I do wish that it had 1 degree increments, but 5 is pretty reasonable.What I don't really like, is that the heat pulses on and off after after a certain amount of time of the pan and product heating up. When the unit cycles off, sometimes water isn't even boiling and it takes a lot longer for it to start boiling when it does that. There's about a 10 second off during this cycling behavior. I don't like it at all, because it doesn't allow me to cook food with the heating consistency that I prefer and it's also not very efficient when it does that. Even with water, and eve if you have it on the highest power level aas well as the highest temperature setting, it still cycles a good bit BEFORE it starts to boil - and that's crazy. I assume this is normal behavior since it does it in practically every mode and use that I've tried, but it doesn't really make sense that it needs to do that. Nuwave, if you're listening, this behavior should be fixed because I don't think it should not pulse like that. It interferes with the cooking process and I don't think it's necessary to design it like that. If it were really some kind of temperature control, 10 seconds off is an awfully long time. It doesn't affect cast iron as much as it does regular pans which cool down much quicker. Perhaps I have a deffective unit, but I seen some reviews where others mention the same behavior on other brand units and possibly other Nuwave models as well. There are also reviews of other branded units available that don't have this behavior, so I know it's technically possible for it not to happen.I think that for general food cooking (not water boiling) it does heat up the food faster, and so far I haven't had any issues with food burning on the pans, which for some things I cook do tend to do that on the regular stove top.With that said, I do still enjoy using the unit to cook food more than with the glass top stove that we currently have.

Great addition to my kitchen. The cooking surface heats up quickly to temp I request and works well with a pan up to 12 inches. A big plus is that only the cooking surface heats up not the whole unit. I was surprised and pleased to see all the safety features it has and how incredibly easy it is to clean. When you turn it on, it makes a noise which I wasn’t expecting. But it isn’t nearly as loud as my air fryer or even the toaster oven. One last benefit is that though it is stable & sturdy I can’t easily tuck it away after use. This seems like a great wedding present.

This review is for the NuWave Titanium PIC. I also have owned a Gold version for about 2 years now so will provide some comparison.The advantages of the Titanium are: 1800W vs 1500W, a removable temperature probe (measures temperature like a regular probe, can be set to turn off the PIC when the probe reaches a set temperature, or it can be set to hold a temperature once it has been reached), the Titanium has a front located on/off switch (however, the Titanium is still a phantom load of 2 watts when turned off – this feature mainly blanks the display and prevents stray fingers playing with the controls whereas Gold display is on as long as it's plugged in), it has a better keypad IMO compared to the Gold (many owners of Flex and Gold have criticized the keypad), it deletes the medium low preset for the probe button, and you can set the default power on temperature value to your liking. Otherwise it's essentially same as Gold PIC.I've been using the Titanium with an energy monitor since it was purchased a few months ago. I also used the same energy monitor for the Gold. The monitor has given me some insight to both the Titanium and Gold operation. I haven't used an induction range top to compare with the PICs; but it is important to understand that the PIC will control the wattage applied to the cook top more or less linearly from half of rated wattage up to full wattage; i.e., 900W for Titanium and 750W for Gold. When the PIC determines the wattage needed is less than half maximum the it will somewhat slowly cycle power on/off; I was expecting a PWM operation for control but that's not the case here. For example, I make a single serving of oatmeal in a 1qt stainless pan; 1 cup water brought to boil using “high” (400F) setting in 1-2 minutes (the small pan size limits heat transfer to about 1200 watts), then add 1/2c oatmeal, reduce temperature and cook away the water for next 6-8 min. With the Gold I would simply adjust the temp down to 260F and let the water cook away. (260F is where the water would continuously low boil rather than cycle on/off; at 600W – small pan remember) The Titanium however requires me to adjust the power setting from 1800W to 700W and temperature to 215F so it will boil the water; but not boil over. Setting power level to 700W limits the PIC to applying only 600W to the pan vs 900W. In all tests of 1500W or 1800W power setting on Titanium, either the pot would boil over or slowly cycle the heat on/off – no steady low boil. When I say slowly cycle I mean it's about 10-12 seconds from heating on to off to heating on again. A very noticeable aspect when watching the cooking process. I've never tried letting the oatmeal “cook” to completion when the PIC cycles on/off; seems like it would take a lot longer to get cooked.So, key takeaways: get a wall plug power switch for either model, play with the cooking temp and/or power settings to learn what works best for you, and if like using a probe with your microwave or other cooking appliance you'll likely want the Titanium PIC. If you have little use for the probe then the Gold PIC may be a better choice at a lower price. I've found the probe very useful for sauces, soups and such. Also as handy temp probe to make sure food is cooked to proper temp.One other oddity was I went to the NuWave website to gather more information before purchasing the Titanium and other than access to Titanium owner's manual it appeared it was not for sale direct from NuWave site – just on Amazon via NuWave seller.I definitely like the Titanium PIC and would certainly buy it again (and the Gold too). I do hope that when that time comes the PIC will have an actual on/off power switch to eliminate the phantom load and a better control system for applying power to the induction element so temperature control is fully linear (no cycling of the heat on and off). Unfortunately the thin metal disc on bottom of many aluminum “induction ready” pots/pans works the same as light SS pans. I do believe a very hefty stainless pan would provide more consistent heating with the on/off heat aspect.

This thing is HUGE!! It is FAST (even on low wattage), PRECISE (210 degrees water not boiling, 215 degrees water re-boils almost instantly), EASY CLEANUP (love the smooth surface, EFFICIENT (all the heat goes into the pot/ pan instead of most of the heat being wasted, going into the room)!! Small learning curve!! I bought this stove I because of the adjustable wattage (we have an issue with breakers tripping on high wattage appliances used in our RV). On high wattage, this thing will sear meats almost faster than you can mind them!! It heats up faster and will boil water at least five times faster than regular stove eyes. This thing is the bomb!! Way better than any stove I have ever used including gas or propane!! Can’t believe I spent so many years trying to figure things out between low, medium and high!! Set this thing on 300° and it boils water like crazy in no time, even on low wattage, it is very fast!! It has been a long time since I have been this pleased with the electric appliance item. Induction is the way to go!! Even if you have to buy a few new pots or pans the time, you will save on this or make it a joy to cook!! I love using this thing!! Instead of waiting, I am cooking!! Highly recommend!! Great, build quality and great value!!
