When I first got this piece of fine workmanship, I was amazed at how gorgeous this knife was in my hand. It's one of the most beautiful pieces of cultrey a man could own!!!

I bought this for my dad to have as a pocket knife. This does the trick nicely. This is a nice size - not too big nor too small. It comes sharp enough to easily meet what he uses it for throughout his every day - snipping loose strings off, opening packages, etc. Occasionally he will whittle with it and it is plenty sharp enough for that. It is comfortable to hold and feels high quality.Overall, this is a very nice knife at its price. It is traditional, has a nice lockback design, looks great, is comfortable to hold, and comes plenty sharp enough to handle everyday tasks.

They went on sale for 19.99, so bought one. First impressions were good upon inspection. Smooth transitions on handle, almost perfect blade centering, slight gap but expected on a inexpensive lockback or lockback in general, as it is a very small gap. Minor grind flaw on lockbar but does not effect function just a visual flaw. The spring tension is good with a good smack when closing, has a nice click when lock engages and smoothly unlocks. One flaw that is a biggie in my opinion, is poor grind angle and consistency, Schrade, it took me over 4 hours with my 1x30 belt sander to reprofile to 17.5° (so steel is probably D2 with a good HT) that is fine for me who has the equipment to reprofile to a usable angle and the main grind leaves alot of material behind edge (thick at edge) I have another in hand and a third on the way. It is a beautiful knife especially at the price, even the regular price. Just be aware of the grind, it is typical Schrade in my experience over past decade. Overall a inexpensive, sturdy, beautiful traditional lockback with better then normal budget steel especially at price point. Oh, and no blade wrap on the 2 I have.Ignore the negative reviews, sure there re going to be duds that slip by, common on mass-produced knives in general at this price point especially, this is Amazon, exchange it and move on. Perfect...no but very nice at price and well worth it. Benchmade, Spyderco, ZT are my favorite brands among more.Update: 6/23 it is holding up very well, it does hold a sharp edge and has no chipping issues. It sees zip ties, wood (soft and hard), cardboard, rope, heavy plastic and slice phonebook paper cleanly. Worth buying at regular price, a bargain on sale. Just picked up my fifth one.A side note: I love oldtimer BUT, I like the bone series and heritage series alot, and still buy some for gifts and collecting, BUT, have to give my recent experience with CS/repair dept.. it is non existent/useless, sorry oldtimer, but after a few months pondering, I feel others should hear of my experience. I have many new in the box oldtimers in multiples. Took a new in the box 2-3 year old 94otb out to sharpen for use (your grinds are very inconsistent) no biggie I like to sharpen knives. But upon inspection, both spey and clip blades whining fully open position had noticeable gap between blade tang and backsprings, thus one had about 2mm of up and down blade play and the other about 3mm of play, in open position. Ok,bummer,I'll send it in. Did as instructed on oldtimer website, contact them for rma#.... no response after a work week, sent another to CS...nothing after a week+, so I printed and filled out the work request form from their website and sent knife in anyways. No emails or any contact attempted, and yes I double checked my contact information. Three weeks later, package arrived from them, three weeks is very good thought, opened box and my knife was in there, untouched, not fixed, no letter,no explanation, nothing. Attempted to contact again for explanation...,and you guessed it, nothing. So though I like oldtimer alot and will likely buy more, I will regard their "limited lifetime-warranty" to be non existent, I hate to give such negative feedback on a company I like and support, but it is what it is, my own experience and have given them ample time to address with zero representation from American outdoor brands, very sad. So buy knowing, warranty might be non existent. And if your experience is better, then I am happy for you. I am a knife knut and collect alot of knives, mostly premium folders, but have a soft spot for budget high value knives as well, and give them as gifts regularly. Might have to stock up on more RR's instead. Just wanted to give buyers a heads up. I chucked the 94otb to toolbox,my other 5 94otb's are good overall, minor imperfections I'm used to from budget brands. I like and have multiples of all bone and heritage series, but will only buy them from a business that has no hassle return or buy in person only. Take it for what you want.
