Happens when you let volunteers "help" pack up your equipment after a gig.Just as sturdy and functions as good as the original and cheaper than buying the whole new boom stand.

This is a good strong boom. It holds it’s position tightly. I use these for overheads and room mics mostly. Keep in mind the stand you put this on, the clip/shock mount and mic weight are all factors in how this performs so be realistic. The back of the stand is not actually a counter weight, it’s more of a handle. I feel in a boom of this length the back should be weighted, that is the only drawback on this model. The back handle is removable though so if you need to add a counter weight in it’s place that is an option for you. I bought this to replace an older one of this model, it’s telescope clutch gave out. It lasted through about 15 years of road and studio abuse so that speaks to the value of these booms. It’s the only one I’ve ever had go out.Overall I recommend this boom for high function and value. I use this brand a lot, I have a bunch of their stands and stand components. I’ve always been happy with their quality and reliability.

This item came inside a retail OEM box with a plastic bag. BUT the item itself is scratch all the way to the handle / "counter weight" (If you can really call it that) So, I am guessing the damage was done at the factory... not too happy about it but passable...Aside from that, the boom has been used in the standard setting "32 inch." It works great and it included 1 clip for the XLR cable, I wish this unit should have included 2 or 3 clips and not just one...The swivel joint clamp is metal with it locks nicely (at least for now nothing moves.) I does look like a 1:1 replica of the K&M boom arms.

I use this boom with an On-Stage mic stand with the round weighted base. It leans a little bit on carpet if the boom is extended too far, but this thing is so adjustable I can always find a position that I don't have to worry about it tipping over. It would probably work even better with a tripod type stand. The tension knobs are easy to adjust and hold firm once your mic is in position.
