I needed this lamp for my bathroom where one light fixture inexplicably is on a totally different line than every other light in the room. Having a cord will allow me to control the lamp independently of the light switch in the bathroom. This sconce is basic but functional. The base plate is a little smaller than I expected but it's okay for my needs.

Overall, this is a 3.5 star item if you can get it for a good deal. It’s been three different prices, ranging from 10.92 to 19.09, since I first noticed this listing on Amazon. Since the pre-coupon price of Vine items do count as reported income to the government, I snagged this at 10.92 after rejecting it at 19.09. There are several of this exact same item on Amazon, with maybe some slight variations in hardware, so the price really does impact the overall value and worth of the light fixture. Some listings replace the silver screws included with this item with black matching screws (I did the same, as I already had black side-mount screws that I knew would fit and silver would be a poor choice). Other listings have a different pull chain (I do not like gold, as I find it tacky, especially contrasting with the silver screws, but I also knew I already had a darker colored pull chain mechanism, so I switched that as well). What annoyed me is I wanted a slightly taller light fixture, and some listings had a 5.9 inch high fixture from the lip of the light holder to the top of the “U” and this listing had a 7.1 inch height for this measurement (see my picture). Sadly, this listing really is the same as the others as the measurements were not correct in the listing picture – they had some numbers reversed; this is the same smaller light fixture as the others. One point deduction for the misrepresentation. There are no instructions, but if you are ordering a hard-wired lamp, I figure you know how to wire it. The lamp comes in two pieces – the base plate (which attaches to the wall mount) and the lamp “U” itself, which you screw into the base plate and then wire to the mains power and the pull chain switch. Easy enough. The listing does not show or describe the light bulb socket, so I will point out that it is plastic, not ceramic, so it will have less heat resistance than light fixtures with a ceramic socket base. It should be fine for 60 watts or any lower-watt LED, but do keep this in mind, especially if you mount this with the bulb facing down. The lamp itself does not state a bulb rating anywhere, but the socket does say 120/240 volt and 660 watts, which is ridiculous (and possibly a misprint). A 240 volt, 660 watt bulb would melt the metal. My only guess is this text points out the wire rating, not the temperature rating of the plastic itself. The only other thing that struck me as odd was the fact that the side mount holes, where you screw the lamp base onto the wall mount, are not 90 degrees off from the pull chain. In the listing pictures, the pull chain is pointed down in all pictures, but I did not notice the mounting holes are not at the sides. On the left, the mounting hole is lower and on the right, it is up higher. It looks odd. If you use the silver screws, it will look really odd and catch your eye. This is as shown in the listing pictures, but it’s not really noticeable unless you study the pictures, due to the angles they have used in the photography. In real life, you do notice this oddity. If you mount the mounting bracket level on the wall, your pull chain will be off to the left of the bottom (which may be a look some people want) – just consider this before you mount the mounting bar your light will attach to.The finish was mostly nice. My “U” piece has a small scratch, but it’s not that noticeable due to the location of the scratch (the silver screws will stick out much more, especially as they will clash with the shiny golden pull chain – which is why I replaced both of these aspects of the lamp). The rest of the finish is fine.My living room only has floor/table lamps, so it can be dark. I wanted a light high up on the wall so I could light up the room better when needed, and this serves the purpose well. The simple design looks good with the rest of my décor. Again, with the hardware substitutions I made, I am happy enough; I am still disappointed the light has different measurements than the listing stated. Even at 10.92, I’m not sure if I would have bought it that listing picture with the measurements had been correct.
