Although the product description for this display claims it works with the official Pi OS and does not require any drivers, it turns out that you do have to edit the Pi config.txt file to use the older (depreciated) FKMS graphics driver - otherwise the display causes the board to hang after displaying the Pi OS boot logo. There is no information how to do this in the instructions or the Osoyoo website - fortunately some trial and error and assistance from the Pi forums got it working for me.To use this display, look for the following text in the config.txt file:# Enable DRM VC4 V3D driverdtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3dmax_framebuffers=2and edit it to (note fkms):# Enable DRM VC4 V3D driverdtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3dmax_framebuffers=2The display itself looks sharp and the touchscreen works (though isn't super accurate because of the small size). You can use an HDMI monitor simultaneously if desired. From a hardware perspective, while the front of the display is nice, it is VERY thin glass with nothing supporting the edges from behind, so mounting this in a case will require a bit of engineering. However, there are 4 standoffs included that match the Pi board pattern, so it can be attached directly to the Pi board if desired. All in all I feel this display is a good value and seems to work well - just be aware of the config.txt editing that needs to be done in order for it to work.

I slapped the display into a Voron printer and it seems to work fine so far. There is a housing for it on thingieverse.Good: DSI interface, so power and data go through a ribbon cable (no extra HDMI cable/etc)Bad: The ribbon cable is NOT flipped on one end like all the standard Raspberry PI cables. This means that you will need to buy an extension cable from the supplier (if they have stock/etc) if you need one...... Or make your own. Here is how:- buy another ribbon cable that is longer than you need (raspberry pi cables will do)- it needs to be 1mm pitch, 15 pin- practice cutting a nice clean straight edge a few times on the extra length- cut a bit longer than you need in case you mess up- use the tip of a SHARP blade, scrape off the insulation on the correct side- slap several layers of sticky parcel tape on the back to back up the same thickness (I measured 0.28mm)- trim off extra sticky tape hanging over the sides- test and it should workSide note: if you do use a standard raspberry pi cable, expect that it will both not work (blank display) and also expect to smell burned electronics. Unpower it FAST and you should be ok (I was!)

Works, easy to install, and touch screen worked. If the touch screen doesnt work at first, its kernel modules. Installing kernel mods and then restarting will fix that problem!

This screen is used with a Pi 4 with the intent to emulate a Logitech SqueezeboxTouch. The software used is piCorePlayer, Squeezelite, and Jivelite. The 'touch' points for icons on the screen near the edge don't work at all. In the middle, there is great inconsistency in where you'll wind up when you 'touch' an icon to go to a specific function. The odds are slightly against getting to the correct function in the software/GUI. Try again! Also, after a few hours of use, the screen has developed a pale purple cast which makes seeing Album Artwork superfluous (and ugly). For this project use, this screen is highly NOT recommended.

I wasn't expecting much, and honestly didn't need much for the project I bought this for. I don't often post reviews of products, but I just have to say how pleasantly surprised I am at the image quality and build quality at this price point. Display is surprisingly crisp and is honestly kinda overkill for what I'm using it for haha .. but I do really also appreciate they glossy bevel on the face. It's going to look beautiful once I have time to create an enclosure for this project. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the touch screen accuracy seems to be a little off, but that could just be the form factor being too small for finger tip use.
