Purchased in August 2014. About to throw it out and potentially get a manual opener. We had a good run but recently it has stopped being able to open cans without significant wrestling. Probably could fix it with a sharpener but it feels like a hassle.

Smooth car when opening cans, quiet and has a nice sleek style that looks good on my counter next to my toaster. Highly recommend!

I always read a bunch of reviews before I buy and as with this one, people get it broken in the box or it doesn't open a certain can and they rate it one star and that goes against the possible five star rating. I am a senior who has had a few can openers over the decades and they all did a good job as well as this one. The old can openers were made of metal and felt like more of a heavy duty machine but can openers all seem to have the same parts. I have had this opener for a few months and have opened everything from a small tuna can to a #10 can and all cans opened(quietly) in the manor I expected it to work. This opener is not built to open #10 cans (the really big commercial size)yet with a little balancing act, I was surprised that it worked. Some reviewers said that they found cans that would not open but that did not happen to me. Before I retired I was a caterer and I still do lots of home cooking and I buy many different can sizes and they all open as expected. It looks good and works well, I give it five stars.
