What Makes Good Produce Go Bad?
Fruits and vegetables give off ethylene gas, a substance that causes produce to spoil quickly. Keeping produce together in the crisper causes a buildup of ethylene gas, resulting in shorter lifespans for fruits and vegetables.
Storing fruits and vegetables in plastic bags limits airflow and traps the delicate produce against the sides of the bag. This allows moisture to build up, creating prime conditions for rotting.
Fruits and vegetables require the perfect balance of humidity to keep them crisp and prevent wilting. To make things more difficult, different kinds of produce require different humidity levels to stay fresh.
How Does It Work?
Absorbs Ethylene Gas
The OXO GreenSaver line uses carbon filters, filled with nooks and crannies to trap and absorb ethylene gas. This slows down spoilage, and keeps fruits and vegetables fresh longer. These filters are made from coconut husks, making them safe, all-natural, and non-toxic.
Promotes Airflow
The elevated basket lifts produce away from the bottom and sides of the container to prevent rotting. It can also be used as a colander with excellent drainage, for rinsing produce all at once.
Controls Humidity
The vent on top of each produce keeper slides open and closed, perfect for maintaining the optimum humidity level for whatever type of produce resides inside. Just another way to keep produce fresh and crisp.

Remove the Wrapper!
Be sure to remove the clear wrapper from the activated carbon filter located under the vent of the lid. When the wrapper is removed, the filter can begin absorbing ethylene gas.
Free Your Fruits & Veggies!
Remove the produce from the original packaging in order to place into the GreenSaver colander.
To Vent or Not to Vent?
Refer to the produce venting guide printed on the underside of the vent to determine if vent should be open or closed.
Set the Date!
Set the date indicator on the underside of the lid for a reminder to replace the filter in 3-months

Es muy buena marca, pero me llego roto. Por favor Amazon tengan más cuidado en el manejo del producto.Ya había pedido de otros tamaños de la misma marca y me han salido muy buenos , por eso pedí el tamaño grande, desgraciadamente no tienen cuidado en el manejo de las cajas.OXO y Amazon pongan más atención en el manejo de los productos.

Après avoir lu les commentaires, je me suis laissée tenter par la boîte greensaver. Vu que certains commentaires parlaient d'un objet inutile j'ai voulu faire un test. J'ai acheté des courgettes bio le 23 avril et en ai mis quelques unes dans la boite et les autres dans le bac à légumes du frigo. La photo date du 2 mai et m'a convaincue de l'intérêt du produit.Celles de gauche étaient encore comme au premier jour, bien vertes, croquantes, pas de signe de fatigue.J'ai fini les dernières courgettes stockées avec la boite ce mercredi (19 mai) et elles se portaient toujours très bien. Seule une courgette qui avait une "blessure" avait produit à ce point isolé des signes de fatigue. Le reste etait nickel. Soit après presque 1 mois avec des produits bio.La chose qu'il faut garder à l'esprit c'est que la boite ne fera pas de miracles, comme dit dans d'autres commentaires, si votre produit n'est pas frais, la boite ne va pas ressusciter le tout.Prochain test : évaluer la durée d'efficacité des filtres.

it's hard to find such a big produce saver container. I love that this container can fit the massive amount of spinach I buy, not choy, carrots and celery

Very impressive. I use this to keep the contents of two salad bags and after a week the leaves were still fresh. I also have two small ones for herbs, spring onions and peeled garlic, and they work just as well.Two things to note: a) don't forget to remove the plastic wrap around the filter in the top insert, otherwise no ethylene will get absorbed (!), and b) although the instructions recommend shutting the vent on top of the insert for salad and herbs, I have found that in practice they keep better with the vent open as this allows excess humidity to evaporate.I also have the drawer insert and that is also very impressive, but in that case you do need to close the vents at the top of the drawer (if your fridge allows for that).This really works. No more wilted leaves!
