Ok so first off I do not own or have ever heard anyone play a KLON or even seen one on anyones pedal board. With that said if you are looking for overdrive that still rings the strings through then this pedal could be for you. It's like a light overdrive that sounds good as it's not so overdriven and saturated that the strings just mush together. I paid almost 200 bucks for a pedal that does the something as this. If you are not looking for heavy OD the buy it.

I got this to try out as a transparent overdrive. It isnt super transparent, but between the two Horse overdrives, this one has more high-end to it and is more transparent. The Voice switch is cool, it switches between harder and softer clipping. This is the better of the two Horse overdrives, go for one of these. Gold is too plain sounding of an overdrive

This little pedal doesn't have a bad sound in it.Goes from clean boost to transparent overdrive to saturated overdrive with the twist of a knob.Flip the switch up and it goes into distortion mode, which also sounds great. But in my opinion the switch down position (overdrive) steals the show.Great sounds, versatile pedal.

I can’t believe how this sounds, it sounds just like the original pedal it’s cloning. It’s got two voicings as well that you can switch between, And I love the mini pedal size

I bought this for no other reason than to do a sound comparison between it and a JHS Notaklon I bought recently. Dialed them both in and shared it with some fellow musicians and none of them could tell the difference on recording. Being a much smaller footprint, the knobs are a bit harder to dial in just because the mini enclosure cramps everything a bit. The silver version comes with a voice switch, which I guess puts it into the golden horse mode. I didn't care for the sound of that one, so I always leave it in the down position. This would be perfect for a home musician, or for someone making a cheap board to take on the road, especially if there's any concern about a pedalboard walking away after the set.
