Zipper seems a little catchy for a brand with this reputation. I purchased the Aegis 32” in Charcoal and this is the greenest charcoal I have ever seen.

The first thing I noticed was how light this suitcase was. The top is a molded fabric shell, while the back side is hard plastic. There are only two wheels; this is not a spinner bag, but that means it won’t roll away from you.I emailed Pelican twice via their website to ask about their “Pelican Patch ID tag system,” which they tout as a feature, mainly to see if I could order a patch with my name on it. However, I received no response either time, which was really disappointing. I ended up having a small business make a Molle patch for me, but I couldn't find anyone offering a patch to fit the exact size of the Velcro surface. I had been considering ordering this in a larger size as well, but I'm unwilling to shell out this kind of money only to be ignored by Pelican’s customer service. After taking this on a recent trip to Florida, I am impressed by some features and disappointed by others. When I retrieved my bag from the luggage carousel it was soaking wet, literally dripping water off the plastic side, and it was the only bag I could see in that condition. I have no idea what happened and can only guess that the hard plastic material somehow encouraged condensation or that something happened to my bag. Either way, the contents remained dry, which was also impressive while being concerning.I don't like the way the fabric attracts lint. While traveling, I was wearing a cream-colored alpaca sweater, and its fiber was visible all over the black bag. The tapered top is attractive and helps with balance. Still, it limits the capacity of a bag already limited in its dimensions to meet the airline carry-on size parameters.

Completed my first trip with this guy and there is some good and bad. This is a nice looking case, you can tell the frame is strong, and the wheels are high quality. Nothing is more annoying then a broken wheel on a trip. The corners appear to be replaceable, they are set with cap screws. The sides are firm but have some flex to them. Plenty of room for a single guy on a week long trip. The bad: Why in the world would they put two long straps on the outside. I could tell each time it went through the system the straps got bound up in airport conveyor belts. I used the supplied containment loops for the extra webbing on the return once I could see what was happening and they fell out. I make fire fighting equipment bags, may I recommend a simple tri glide or shorten the webbing. The bag is not expandable so why have an extra 18 inches of webbing flopping around?this is NOT a USA made bag, they are having it made in Vietnam. I know the factory and they do good work. I have some product made there as well. It is not supporting American workers, just private equity.Overall it's a good quality bag, but you are paying for the name. I bought the backpack as well and sadly there is no way to mate the two while in use. It would be nice for a piece of webbing with a hook to put the back pack on the roller.

I'm not familiar with the Pelican brand but decided to take a chance on this suitcase based on my research. Seems they are a quality name that has been around for many years. I usually use a backpack as a carry one but there are times when a suitcase would be more appropriate.I am not disappointed with this suitcase. It is extremely well made with a large inner compartment and some sealed pockets as well. I do find the outside zipper stiff but imagine it will loosen up over time.It is expensive but if you are looking for a suitcase at this price point I don't think you will be disappointed.
