I picked one of these up to test with my Home Assistant integration (regardless of reviews that said it didn't work out of the box). I'm running HA inside a Docker container, so I sat up Z-Wave JS in a container with a Zoos ZST10 dongle after reading the getting started guide, installed the Z-Wave integration in Home Assistant, and it works! It should work similarly if you're using HAOS or HA Supervised with the Z-Wave add-on.All I had to do was add a device in Home Assistant from the Z-Wave integration, and while it was scanning, pull the battery tab on the back of the sensor. It was instantly detected and started reporting data. Didn't have to mess with Z-Wave configurations at all.If you do want to change settings on the sensor, you can do it directly in Home Assistant with a user-friendly interface. Just go to Settings -> Devices & Services -> Z-Wave -> click the "devices" link under the hub -> click on the sensor -> then click Configure. It gives you all the hardware-specific parameters you can change (like enabling/disabling reporting of sensors), and any change automatically queues it up in Z-WaveJS for the next time the sensor wakes up.One thing to note - once you get the device mounted, to clear the Tamper sensor go into ZWave-JS UI, find your sensor, go to Node -> Notification v4 -> and click Idle for the Cover status.Definitely picking more of these sensors up...especially for the price point!

Bought this as it's the cheapest temp sensor I could find for my chicken coop (everything has to be cheep in there). Was able to easily include it in Home Assistant after finding a manual online, that showed I have t trip the little switch on the back 3x to include it in Zwave. Worked instantly with no hassle. If it were long range compatible I'd buy another. The one thing I don't like is the flashing red light when motion is detected. That's not desireable in my use scenario. Hopefully I'll find a way to disable it. If not, gaff tape. Reccomended.

Wanted to integrate a z-wave motion sensor with my Home Assistant setup and this was the cheapest one I could find. Plus it also acts as a door and temperature sensor. It didn't come with a manual and the manual you find online is a little janky. Luckily one of the first few comments mentioned the parameter to adjust to get it to report the way most people and automation systems would expect it to, which it report "motion", then report "clear". By default it seems to just sent motion reports and not send any "clear" reports. People tying it into systems other than Home Assistant may not know or be able to change the parameters to make the sensor binary to have it report both sides of the activity. It seems like this device may be meant for a more commercial application or install rather than consumers.Overall due to the lack of manual and confusing documentation found online I wanted to deduct 1 start but then I felt it deserved to have a star added back because of the good value you get with all the different sensors. After getting the first one figured out I went back and bought two more since the next closest device on Amazon that I could find was around twice the $18 price tag of this.

I’m gonna say if you have a SmartThings hub it’s probably not the device for you.. There are no settings to change the device parameters. (it may work as a door sensor although, the hub continuously returns unable to update. My primary purpose for using it was motion sensor automations , and because I couldn’t update the parameters the device wouldn’t change its status ..Generally speaking, it also has a fairly weak sea wave radio if the hub that was 30 feet away with device in between couldn’t update it .. I don’t think it’s very good.. not recommended given my experience anyway.

I got several of these to setup a multi-sector averaging thermostat via HomeAssistant. These were the cheapest Zwave Plus sensor capable of showing temperature at the time of purchase, so I got them. Setup and configuration was obtuse and frustrating due to an extremely limited manual that I had to go searching for in the first place. Regardless, after I got them configured and used to how they function, they’ve been working ever since. The light sensor and motion sensor functions… function. I didn’t get these to use that way, so while I’m logging the data because it’s data, I’m not really doing anything with it.
