I bought this because I wanted to have something whimsical in my pool. The base was easy to fill with water and once inflated, the penguin remained upright. I did not give a 5 rating on durability and sturdiness because I only recently purchased it.

I purchased the penguin for a very specialized purpose. We had a problem with a mother duck teaching her ducklings to swim in our pool. They would walk up our slanting seawall every morning and swim for an hour or so. They interspersed the swimming with what I assume were lectures in which the mother sat on the west side of the pool facing east and the six ducklings sat on the east side looking at her. They then walked down the seawall and swam away. It was all very cute but they left our patio filled with guano which I had to hose away and which stank unless I poured bleach wherever they had left a deposit.I placed the penguin, which my wife named Oscar, in the pool. I have never again seen the ducks. He therefore has a five star rating as a scareduck. He has created a problem in that we used to enjoy watching the herons and other water birds that fished from the lawn adjoining our patio. They no longer come. You can't have everything.
