So far this has worked well. It needs to be inserted at full depth and needs grease. You will need a vice or some kind of fixturing device to apply adequate torque. I'm a millennial liberal so don't listen to the reviews that say this is a sub-par product. It's not made to work on .055" fence post. .025" galvanized worked just fine.

Used on a forklift exhaust system. It worked fine. Its a tool that is not tool truck price so I used a wrench and my brain. Nothing broke on tool, exhaust system got installed without removing the forklift counterweight. Well worth the price if you use your brain.

Years ago I bought the 2 1/2 inch one for my truck, same brand worked no problem expanding the two pieces of pipe, now I have a SUV with a 40 mm inside hoped to expand it to fit over the other 44 mm outside,no go first time cracked it half in ten min. Different metals 10 yrs later.

At first, I thought it wasn't functioning as needed. But I put an impact wrench on it and it performed very well. Need to be careful with exhaust pipe you don't go too far and split the pipe, but I successfully stretched my 2.25 ID to 2.4 ID to slip over the connecting pipe. Took about three runs of 5-10 seconds. Worked very well. Even and round stretch. Would recommend. Would take a while to work with a hand ratchet, but if you have an impact and you're careful, it's a no-brainer.

I used synthetic grease on the nut, bolt and the tapered ends. Then I also greased the orings and metalexpansion fingers. I put grease inside the pipe i was expanding, just a light coating.I used a socket and rachet to turn the bolt. I pushed the expander in until the ends of the fingers were even with the pipe end. This seems best as they have full support when expanding. I turned until i had some pressure then released and rotated the tool. I repeated this until i had the one or two millimeters needed. One ramp showed some minor wear marks but nothing cracked or broke using the tool gently.I was able to slide my pipe connector onto my exhaust and clamp it successfully. This tool seemed to have better metal than some other similar tools on Amazon. It looked nicely made but pipe is hard to expand.I would not use an impact driver or expect to do large expansions of pipe with this tool.
