I have a Gibson EC-30 that had a factory installed Prefix Plus onboard preamp. I bought the guitar new around 2000. The preamp started making intermittant rumbling noises (unfortunately, this happened during a gig....bummer). I tried various things to determine what was causing the rumbling sounds, but could not find the cause. So, since I could not trust the guitar for future gigging, I decided to replace the original onboard Prefix Plus with a new Prefix Plus-T. The Prefix Plus-T was almost a drop-in replacement. I mention "almost", because I had to Dremmel some of the wood in the "drop-in hole" to accommodate a slightly larger preamp casing. But it was a simple operation. The new Prefix Plus-T preamp is great! good acoustic clarity...and I really appreciate the onboard tuner. ....and...no mre rumbling sounds!

Seems to be working well. The only drawback is that I replaced a LR Baggs Stage Pro. The hole is on the upper bout and the curve of the guitar is a little more than this Fishman is designed for. To change the battery I have to listen the screws at the top to get the compartment to open. But it sounds great, easy to figure out, and I love the onboard tuner!

I had this pre-amp installed into a Tacoma Thunderchief acoustic electric bass. It sounds awesome and works great. My only complaint is that the sound is a little weak on my G and D strings up high on the neck. But I'm a bass player and I don't spend very much time up there. I give this pre-amp an A. Very Happy
