First off, be prepared to use a lot of frosting. I used an extra large piping bag and was amazed at how much buttercream it took just to fill the piping tip. My first attempt, the petals wouldn’t stand up so I had to thicken my buttercream by adding more powdered sugar. I ended up adding a full cup more than the recipe called for before the flowers would hold their shape. They are tall, so you may need to adjust your recipe as well. All’s not lost if your petals don’t stand up straight – they will just look more like roses than tulips. I used this tip to decorate a mishappen cake that didn’t rise evenly. I have the tulips on the higher side of the cake, and it looks like the higher side of the cake was intentional! The decorating process is fast, as you cover a lot of area with each effortless flower. When I try this again, I’m going to use glossy buttercream like they have on the video; I don’t think it would necessarily work better, but it’s a nice look. I would recommend this to friends and family.

Wow, this is a well-made piping tip. It’s very large and covers an awesome amount of space. The cut-out is laser-cut into a nice steel form with no flaws and no sharp or irregular edges. It’s also easy to clean for that reason. I am really happy with this product.I’m new to russian tips, so I’m still working to make icing at the right consistency to get a great result, but the tip is solid and reliably awaits my personal progress 😁.

This decorating tip came exactly as pictured and is way bigger than I thought. It will need its own piping bag since you'll have to cut it to fit the tip. The tip at the base is about 1.5 inches or so. Since the tip is so big you'll need a stiffer than usual frosting to get a tulip shape, otherwise the flowers will look like someone sat on them due to their sheer size. I'd recommend this decorating tip for advanced cake decorating.
