So far so good. One of the wisest decisions I've ever made. Wish I had opted for more space though as I didn't realize how much space is taken up by the backup foundation/formatting. I rest better knowing any kind of file I want to backup has a good location that is always there. Photos, files, and im currently scanning papers.

I’ve been using a TS-451+ for the last 8 years and I was beginning to wonder how much life remained in it. So, to be safe, I purchased this TS-264. I only ever accumulated about 1TB of data on the older device, so I opted for a more modest solution this time. The setup instructions for the TS-264 did not work. Supposedly, one just needs to plug in the device, login with “admin”, “MAC1Address” and start following prompts, but the default, initial login did not work. Having had some experience with QNAP servers, I decided simply to pull the drives and reinitialize it. Everything worked fine after that. At this moment, I am moving files from the old NAS to the new one. Plex is working on it! So, I’m in business with a new AV and file server to complement the old one. This new server is MUCH quieter than the old one!Color me “brand loyal”. My experience with QNAP has been good. The very few times I consulted with customer service in the user forum, regarding the older NAS, generated rapid, helpful responses.
