For use in an emergency kit, this radio has the advantage of taking conventional batteries. Simply toss it it with a couple of Lithium AA's and you can ignore it for a decade until and unless you need it.I had no trouble picking up area AM and FM stations from my suburban home.For a "bugout bag" or just to give to the kids to fool around with, this is a great little radio, especially for the price.Recommended.

I didn't expect much from such a low-cost radio but was pleasantly surprised. The AM/FM and SW reception is really great, and I immediately was able to pick up several SW stations during the late morning. If you want to pick up even more stations, try clipping a long wire (about 30 feet) to the end of the antenna.The tuner is firm which is great for precession tuning and the sound was also decent through the speaker. It also has an earphone jack and a pretty bright flashlight, probably about 50 lumens! It runs on 2 AA batteries which I also like. I'm getting tired of keeping rechargeable batteries charged all the time.My only slight complaint is that the switches do not have any labeling on the radio. However. there are instructions and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure 4 switches out. Recommend!

For this price just buy it! With its blue tuner display, flashlight, and shortwave features it beats the value out of most others. The DSP chip works great and picks up stations quite well. The audio tone is clear and bright, with plenty of volume it will play considerably louder than many other pocket radios operating on 2 AA batteries. Only tiny gripe is there is a small amount of play in the tuner linkage but that doesn't stop it from being great!

For $5.99 its a great little radio. Good all around. Has an emergency lite as well.

Very poor sensitivity. It picks up local AM and FM. On SW it picks up the time broadcast on 10 mHz only. Also the automatic gain control is not linear, it switches between loud and quiet constantly which is annoying. I have an old pocket radio in poor condition for comparison, The old one receives more stations than this new one. The plastic case is quality and the switches and thumb wheels feel good but the tuning is a bit stiff. The electronic performance is what the low price reflects.
