It’s small enough to tuck into my toolbox but big enough for me to do my miniature crafts

This product is really useful to do fine details. I’m not a fan of the clamps and dipped them in a protective coat of plastic, but that’s just because of the models I paint and I do not want to damage them.Super sturdy, the base is counter weighted to excellence.

Normally, anything I solder is usually done with the naked eye and the item more or less balanced on a flat surface; however, I recently ordered a Heltec ESP32 Wi-Fi/LoRa Board (approx. the size of a single delicious Club Cracker) that arrived with the pins unsoldered into place already....36 pins unsoldered.... I can do a run of 7 or 8 pins alright, but 18 pins on each side, sitting right next to an OLED screen and cable, I figured it best not to try my odds by just eye-balling it. Plus, the best way I figured to rig it up was to drop the pins in a breadboard and rest the LoRa board on top.....but, then I was afraid it would destroy the breadboard with the transfer of heat.....Anyway, long story short, I ordered this product, set it up right when I got it, and both problems (or my insecurities) disappeared. It works just fine holding the board and the magnification, while not incredible, is just enough to not have to be nervously shaking on tiny pin spacing, hoping not to destroy the whole thing rolling the dice with the naked eye. This is for small projects - it will likely tip over if you try suspending a whole motherboard with it. It has sufficient weight for soldering - which, as far as I've ever known how to do, should never require applying force or weight enough to destabilize the balance of a project properly set up to begin with...(?). It is made of metal, it does not have standard wing nuts though, but as someone else had suggested, making a stand with popsicle sticks would be comparatively a terrible idea. ....Those tend to be wood...and while I've never tested it myself; I've been told that wood and soldering irons, when used together, can lead to an increased likelihood of uncontrolled and potentially life-threatening fire. So, is this item perfect? No. Does it work within reason? Yeah, pretty much....the ease of adjusting the joints or a slide varies a fair amount, but it's pretty easy to know where adjusting will be more difficult than other points. Most importantly, ....& in my opinion, ....it's very inexpensive and if you purchase it and overestimated it's function, it's okay; because ....it's very inexpensive. There's no lost sleep taking a chance if you're already looking at it...and way less risk than popsicle sticks...(?) That's just ridiculous anyway.

This item works as advertised. I have used only once sofar and that was to solder coax connections and the alligator clips came in quite handy. Only draw back is it’s not for heavy items but great for light stuff like small to medium wire splices. Also great price. I’m not dissatisfied with the product.
