It fits perfectly and aligns to the pre-existing holes on my car so that I can fasten the plates with the four security screws provided. I first had to remove the original made in Germany rear license plate bracket to add this.

La base de placa la utilice en un Mini cooper 2013, excelente los acabados y detalles en bronce, solo que para las placas en mexico hay que marcar en la placa los orificios de la base y perforar con taladro para que los tornillos tengan un ajuste perfecto.

Even though the referenced 11 digit rear license plate bracket's BMW part nbr for the e53 X5 isn't listed for this rear license plate bracket...it fit my 2006 e53 X5 4.4 perfectly. The placement for the two screws that mount the bracket to the tailgate...is an exact fit. And when mounted...the other 4 bolts that secures the license plate to the bracket are also perfectly located and there's no issue (like some e46 Touring (aka wagon) owners have mentioned/warned/complained about).The mounting hardware is an extra plus...especially since I had to throw away everything associated with my old plate except the two screws that held the old bracket to the tail gate (had to bend/destroy the old plate to access those two screws). The old bolts that secured the old plate to the old bracket had seized/rusted and couldn't be extracted. I would have preferred securing bolts with a philips head or straight head...but I do understand that the Torx head bolts (T25 if you lose the tool sent with the bracket) is a theft deterrent.I would definitely recommend this product if you need a rear license plate bracket...its about 1/3 less the cost if purchased from my local BMW dealership's parts department, it works/fits perfectly, plus you get the mounting hardware. WINNING! :)
