This shock stem delivers exactly what it promises - it tames the shock through your front end as you traverse trails and paths.I purchased a new Trek Checkpoint ALR5 gravel this year. I had a feeling the ride was going to be harsher compared to my front suspension hardtail mountain. Despite the carbon fork - I was right. While I gained a ton of speed, it came at the cost of the ride over patchy asphalt and ungroomed trails. I consistently ride a trail along the creek by my house. While it’s mostly paved, there are gravel sections and many sections where the pavement is anything but smooth. First month of riding on the new bike was the honeymoon phase. After that, the ride was getting to me. Prime Days came and it was time to pull the trigger. I needed to shorten my stem from 100mm to 80mm anyways as the bike fits long - so it all worked out.INSTANT improvement and fantastic results from this stem. It does exactly what it’s branded to do and stops the shock in the handle bars. I used 1 setting down on the elastomers on initial setup and it’s been great. As others have mentioned - it won’t gobble up big hits as fork suspension will do, but it 100% absorbs the initial shock of it and maintains comfort and control. It tames the horizontal cracks, divots and bumps on asphalt and smooths out the trails which keep you riding longer and happier. The pivot is subtle and I have noticed zero effect on steering, braking, or on climbs. Perhaps with a longer stem there may be more travel with increased leverage? But it is easily modified with the included elastomers and configuration options for stiffness.Installation is easy, directions are clear, and if all else fails - there are super easy to follow videos. If you want to experiment with the elastomers, it does take some time though as you need to remove the bars and then go through he extraction and installation process. It’s not exactly plug and play - but it’s also not something you are going to do regularly.I personally could care less about any extra grams this weighs as the benefits are far superior than any perceived loss from added weight.I think this is single handedly one the best comfort upgrades you can do. Worth every cent (especially on sale). 500km in and zero regrets.I totally plan on getting the seat post next.

I have nerve pain in my hand, aggravated by bumpy roads, and can’t get wider tires on my rim brake road bike. This stem helps quite a bit to smooth out the ride, without interfering or feeling bouncy. It’s high quality with good instructions. Am really glad a product like this exists.

This is my second purchase. This stem works so well on my gravel bike I wanted one for my road bike. First, it is not like a MTB front suspension. It is a shock absorber for those small annoying bumps, chip seal, road cracks and small rocks. I get much less numbness in my hands. My ride is way more comfortable with this stem. It doesn't effect climbing at all, no bouncing. It's quality made, easy to adjust for different rider weights. The little extra weight is negligible. A little pricey but for me, oh so worth it. This product really works.
