This device is incredibly inaccurate and not at all suitable to measure reptile UVB lighting.The measurement reading of this device changes even when I toggle power to my LED plant lights and tungsten filament basking bulbs. In comparison, the reading of a Solarmeter 6.5 only changes when I toggle power to the T5 UVB or metal halide bulbs, both of which actually output UVB.This device also reports a UVC reading from sunlight, and anyone who passed high school science knows that's impossible because all UVC is blocked by the earth's ozone layer.

Love this meter. It has a few extra parts vs other products out there. And my honest opinion, I believe it’s better to have these extra parts because the extendable arm is perfect to reach across larger tanks or further back into tanks if your UVB bulb is positioned in a funny spot. For me, it’s within reach, but I love, knowing that I can disassemble and assemble these little parts Whenever necessary. I just stuff them all back in the box and put it on the shelf.Once you understand the zones and the numbers in each reading, it will make more sense when using this device. It is truly a lifesaver when determining the best environment for your scaly friends.Like I said in my subject line, I was comparing devices and decided to pull the trigger on this one. I am so glad I did and extremely excited to see how long these lightbulbs will last.Having the ability to truly test the UVI accurately at any point is reassuring.

I've been really impressed with how well this meter works right out of the box. The included wand/extension makes it so much easier to take readings from different spots in the tank.Once you dial in the correct light level and figure out how much light your current setup provides, you’ll be able to position the lights for the optimum setup.Like some other reviewers I do wish it was rechargeable, but I don't think we'll be using it so often that we'll burn through many batteries.Overall, this well made meter gets the job done, and adds an extra set to get our little friends the near-perfect setup.
