I buy so many things on Amazon that I kind of just stopped bothering to leave reviews, but it’s currently raining with thunder and lightning and hail and all of the things and I decided that I needed to stop what I was doing (the dishes) and leave a review to help any other Pet parents with their anxious dog.I’m not gonna go on and on, but I’m going to say that Howard has always been terrified of both the sound of rain (we have a metal roof ) and thunder and of course the flashing of lightning. I live in Sedona where we get monsoons in the summer and we get plenty of rain in the winter and fall. I never get to enjoy any of it because I spend the whole time in a dark room comforting Howard while he shakes and salivates. This thing is a game changer. It will be hail storm and he’s fast asleep. You can see from his picture he Is right next to the window and it is in fact raining and there is thunder going on. Luckily the lightning is too far away so it’s not freaking him out. I just want to say thank you to manufacturer of this. It absolutely does work is it his favorite thing to wear no but he allows me to put it on his head and he will go to sleep with it on and he doesn’t try to take it off.5 stars from me. Oh and Howard is considered a large dog. He weighs 67 pounds. He weighs s a 12 year old Queensland heeler and German Shepherd mix. He is wearing size LARGE.He’s almost 2 year old adopted sister in the background isn’t bothered by the rain because she is deaf

The fabric by itself is a bit thin, but that doesn't really matter too much in this case since the focus here is the earmuffs, not the hood portion. However, the hood fabric is reasonably soft and manueverable when attempting to place it into position onto the dog. Inside the hood are 2 opposing pockets where the earmuffs are meant to be. These pockets do have an open end to allow for removal and replacement of the earmuffs, but that opening is actually somewhat constricted. This helps keep the earmuffs in place within the pockets until removed. Under normal use and circumstance, I do not believe there is much risk at all of losing an earmuff by it having fallen out. Also, the stitching for the pockets and the whole hood appear to be well done. Each end of the hood also has a drawstring with a toggle switch, that when properly tightened for the best fit, should help the earmuff hood stay in position while the dog goes about its activities. There are exceptions, of course. Such as if the dog deliberately paws at it to remove it. Also, if they roll around on the ground alot, or if they forcefully shake thier head enough, thus pulling it off accidentally. Other examples are also possible. But so long as the hood and muffs are positioned correctly, and the drawstrings are also fitted correctly (but not overly tight for safety), then the hood and muffs should stay in place during reasonable dog activities, and under normal use and circumstance.Just be aware that there seems to be a correct direction for which end goes over the head first. If it is put on backwards, the earmuff portion might be less likely to properly align with the dog's ear position. But that should normally be an easy enough fix.We did not get this specifically for noise reduction. Therefore, I make no comment on the noise reduction feature, other than to say that it is a nice feature to have. Rather, we had gotten these earmuffs to help keep wind, rain, and insects out of our dog's ears while she is outside, as she is prone to ear infections. I'm not a vet, so I make no medical claims. We are just hoping that keeping potential irritants out of her ears could potentially help reduce some of the ear issues she has. Only time and vet checkups will tell how that strategy goes. But as it pertains only to the standard of quality and common functions of earmuffs, we are satisfied so far with said quality and function of this dog earmuff.5 out of 5 stars.
