Samson QH4 Studio Headphone Amplifier, 4-Channel

Running a group recording session? Send your mix out to 4 pairs of headphones with the QH4!

You've positioned your microphones, set your levels and everyone's ready to record. Now, you need a way for each performer to hear themselves. That's where the Samson QH4 comes in. The QH4 is a 4-channel headphone amplifier designed to distribute your audio to up to four individual headphones, each with its own volume control. Its compact design is perfect for use with any studio or desktop workstation, as well as with your laptop or smartphone when you're recording on the go.

The QH4 features two balanced 1/4" inputs to connect with your mixer or recording interface, as well as a stereo 1/8" Aux input that's perfect for playing music via your smartphone or another line level device. In addition to the four stereo 1/4" headphone outputs, the QH4 provides a 1/8" Aux Out that can be used to daisy chain multiple QH4s together.

The four independent high-power amplifier channels deliver clean, crisp audio to up to four sets of headphones, operating between 16-600O. Unlike headphone amps that share channel power, the QH4's quad amp design does not diminish power even when all four channels are being driven hard. Engineered with an ultra-low noise floor and wide dynamic range, the QH4 is a tremendous value compared to other headphone amplifiers on the market. Also, the QH4's Master volume control and Mute switch make controlling the overall level of your headphones a breeze.

Before bouncing your mix, you should always check to ensure that it's compatible with mono speaker systems. The QH4 features a global Mono button, which allows you to quickly check the mono compatibility of your tracks. If you notice that some of your audio is missing, you should check the phase of your recordings. This feature also allows you to take a split left and right feed from a stereo interview and send both tracks to each side of your headphones. This is great for quickly monitoring a podcast or recording with split tracks.

About Samson

Samson Technologies began in 1980 designing wireless microphone systems. Today, we are an industry leader in both consumer and professional audio with three notable brands: Samson Audio, Samson Wireless and Hartke. Over 250 of our products are sold and distributed in over 140 countries around the world.

In 1980, Samson introduced our first wireless microphone system. Over the years, Samson has become a leader in the wireless field. In the early '90s, we began to expand the reach of our audio products through the development of power amplifiers, mixers, wired microphones and signal processors. In 2005, we introduced the first professional USB microphones to be used by musicians, broadcasters and podcast enthusiasts. Our USB microphones are now the industry standard.

Hartke revolutionized the world of bass amplification in 1985 with the creation of a unique aluminum cone driver that produced a bass tone with far broader dynamics than had ever been heard before. We have gone on to create a full line of bass amplifiers, cabinets and combos that are used by some of the world's greatest musicians.

Over three decades, Samson has grown from a small two-person operation to a worldwide enterprise, dedicated to innovating new products that will enhance the lives of music and broadcast professionals everywhere.

Bags of power. Very clean. The individual amp for each headset is a good feature. If someone plugs in a headset of different impedance, it doesn't effect the whole output level. Used for recording overdubs in my studio. Everyone brings their own cans.

Estuvo un poquito más caro de lo que me imaginaba, pero es muy bueno. Se conectan 4 personas y cada quien controla su propio volumen.

This does exactly what it says it does, and does it perfectly. I'm only using two of its 4 outputs, so I have room for expansion. The knobs are chunky and the potentiometers roll smoothly, it looks great, and its portable. I couldn't be happier.

Five star .

Very useful headphone splitter for studio. Especially as you can have up to four headphones with separate volume controls! Great for ensembles and backing vocalists. N.B. When powering on, it can make weird clicks, static & distortion while it ‘warms up’.

Honestly this splitter is fantastic as far as I can tell. It's much higher quality than the horrendous HA400 / Behringer rebranded multi-out splitter amps (I own one of those). The HA400s are so terrible that, if you can't hear what they're doing to the audio quality, you shouldn't worry about any audio hardware you buy, because that's about as objectively bad as it gets. This splitter has no signal degradation that I can detect. I use it to compare multiple cans at the same time. The individual volume knobs + master is great to let you make each compared headphone have the same volume, and then change the master volume at the same time. There DOES appear to be a difference between the master all the way up and individual low, vs vice versa of individual high and master low, but only at very high volumes. The unit definitely does produce noise, but again only at deafening volumes. I can't hear any added noise to the signal at loud but bearable listening levels.I regularly plug all of my headphones into this, independent of the sound source. It's convenient to always have the same sized jack going to the audio source (this supports aux in and 1/4 trs which is great), and then to plug in whatever headphone cable size I want with adapters to the QH4.I don't think this unit contains $70 worth of hardware, but it's sturdy, and has held up for a while now (at least a year?) with no damage or signal degradation despite a few times i've dropped it. The knobs all feel great to turn, the base has good friction against my desk, and audio clicks and pops are minimal turning it on/off. Again I don't think there's $70 worth of physical material in here at all, but I also don't regret paying $70 for it after using it extensively.
