I've been wanting a way to keep my reg and octo in place, but none of the clips and such worked. It wasn't till a dive trip to Key Largo and I saw my dive buddy with this and I knew I had to get one.

I've used this on my last 7 dives. It works for the most part but it does separate at times

We have used the plastic holders that insert into the octo (which fall off when you dive in and take manipulation to get back together). We have used a larger rubber holder with a loop (see plastic holder issues). We just went on a week liveaboard and used these and loved how quickly they connected, even if they were off. I did not experience any issues. Just loved the ease of using this.

Strong magnet. Used during 6 boat dives (giant stride) with no problems. Worked best when installed a few inches up octo hose so octo dangled in front of body. Magnet did show oxidation, but can be wiped clean. Hose locking mechanism worked great and kept device in place on hose.

Used this today on a dive. Held my Octo in place, the hose didn't slide at all and it never came loose. Granted it was a shore dive and not falling off a boat, but I don't foresee that being an issue when you tuck your arm over it anyways.I like the usability of this in an emergency, not plastic hose hook that lets the Oct slide down and drag against the rocks or coral and if needed it will quickly release for use.I did not have any issues with this and my compass, but I was using a Shearwater Perdix on my left arm and this was on my right chest.
