the design of the spool may be a little different than the traditional shape with round holes but it works just as good. It seems durable so far and in freshwater the clip is useable. It is not a Dive-Rite all-stainless steel spool & clip for serious cave diving but it only costs 1/4 of that and for open water applications, surface markers, or a search & recovery class this is sufficient.For saltwater use, i would recommend replacing the clip with a stainless one...
