I have this heater in a 3 gallon tank in a house that sits at 72F degrees. Now to be fair the tank is near a triple pane window, so it’s about 67F near the tank, BUT… this heater is rated at 1-4 gallons, so my 3 gallon is well within that rating and I don’t really wish for the supposable 78F temp. That being said this heater is barely reaching 69-70F in the tank confirmed with 3 thermometers. I’m going to put the device on a watt meter and see if it is achieving its rated wattage. And I will update this review. If it is out of spec I will be returning it.UPDATE: Nov 2024 I did test this fully via a watt meter and to my surprise it was reaching the rated and expected watts at least at first. In that vane the heater did keep what temp it kept fairly steadily. However, my wife just called me and said the heater is again not doing its job, barely heating the tank. And doesn’t believe the watts to be being achieved. She thought her prized Red Pleco had bit the bullet, but it was ok just chilled. At this point I do not trust this heater at all, which is a shame for a “higher quality” Italian heater. Guess it’s back to the drawing board.

I read reviews of the filter housing not being sealed and I thought they just got a defective unit.When I got mine the top of the filter of already coming off right out the package. I didn’t even risk sticking it in my tank.

Heater did not keep water temperature stable. Every time I checked water temp it was different and only from 78-82F. Description said it would keep it at 77F and it’s a 2 gallon tank.
