This just arrived, and it is solid and clean. There is a very slight, squared-off ridge on the interior that will give extra grip to the wire against the ground rod.The "UL" designation is stamped on one side, and the 5/8" size is stamped on the other.It looks like good quality brass (e.g., mostly copper with 35-45 % zinc). This is ideal: much stronger than pure copper with good conductivity. The ground wire will do the conducting, so you want brass for strength and durability.
