I've yet to use this overcasting foot, but one reason I bought it and knew I'd like it, it has no center bar. This gives me the ability to choose the width of the stitch I want to use without the fear I'd break my needle.

This is absolutely a winner for me. It was so much cheaper than my local store carried it for. It gives me an accurate quarter inch seam (and let's face it, I need the help). I've been using it for over a year and it still is accurate and working great. I love that it is so easy to take off and put on. It makes me use it even more. I use this for quilting and for bag making to keep my seams as accurate as possible and improve the finished product.

I heard about edge/ditch foots while watching a sew along on M6044. I’m doing my second mock up on really cheap cotton fabric. The cheapest you can find! I was afraid. The metal ditch or edge in the middle of the foot would cause drag indentions. Or even fray the fabric because it’s such low quality. No worries there it worked like a charm. I sewed button bands on another mock up and let’s just say drunks have walked a straighter line during sobriety tests. The edge was consistent.. I did notice I let’s the fabric slide up in the foot which will effect the gap of course. But the foot still allows only so much of this bunching if you get careless. The lines were still good and I will not become so lazy in the future! Love this foot! Not sure how I survived the last year of sewing without it! Oh! I didn’t that’s right... I stayed away from edge stitching... no more! But it!

Works great, just have to remember slow and steady! Did catch in a few places where there was a bulky seam transition, but slow and steady sewing helped prevent any major snags.
