SnowPeak designed this specifically for their GS100 stoves and that’s exactly where I’m using it.Does it discolour? Yup . Stainless steel starts to discolour at 700 degrees and butane burns at 1,900 degrees … expect it.Does it save fuel ? Yup ! I can reduce the stove output and still keep the same boil times.The other major benefit is that it acts as a heat shield and keeps the control valve cooler and safer to touch. The size is just slightly larger in diameter than a fuel canister so it will effectively sit under one and take up no room.It’s not a silver bullet … it won’t let you cook in a tornado or double the BYU output of the stove, but for anyone with good outdoor experience - it does make the GS100 just that much better.
