This is a vapcell charger, not sure why they called it a sofirn charger, but it's of the best chargers on the market in anycase. After you insert each cell, you press the mode button and change it to whatever you'd like (charge, discharge, cap test, storage, repair). It's on charge by default. There's a switch on the side that toggles between manual and automatic. I recommend leaving it on manual, unless you're in a hurry to charge your batteries. Manual will default to a trickle charge of 500mA which is probably the healthiest rate to charge most cells at, to ensure long battery life. You can change this easily too by pressing the current button to raise or lower the rate of each battery as you'd like. There's also a display button to turn the display off, which can be nice at night as the charger screen is bright. Another great feature is that each bay can be set to a different mode, ie you can have bay 1 set to charge, bay 2 set to discharge, bay 3 set to repair, etc. The repair function is simply a constant charge/discharge cycle. I tested it for about 16 hours, but it never seems to stop. I didn't see any noticeable impact on my nihm cells (good or bad) in terms of restoring capacity. There's a whole other slew of features and I recommend reading the manual thoroughly before using! All in all this is a phenomenal charger made by one of the top battery makers out there right now. It's both easy to use, but also feature packed with advanced settings, should you care about them or want them. It's perfect for both Li-ions and nihm cells alike. Don't let the features overwhelm you. If all you're looking to do is charge your batteries, flip the switch to manual, pop the cell in and charge! it will beep when finished and remove your battery. The difference between this and a standard eneloop charger is huge. This will keep your cells fully charged, healthy, and long lasting compared to any other cheap off the shelf charger! Highly recommend for anyone.

I have an increasingly larger number of items now which use the larger 18650 and even the rare 21700 series batteries. This Smart Charger charges/discharges all three main battery types, Li-ion, NmHi,, and NiCad. It has 4 posts, but position #4 performs a special service. It will discharge all three types, then recharge to any state of charge you wish. It also will repair 'bad' batteries, as long as they have even a minimal bit of juice in them. It will charge batteries to a "storage" condition (about 50% capacity) so the battery will last indefinitely in this condition, with periodical touch up. It tests total capacity by completely charging, then completely discharging, then charging to 100% to ascertain the battery health and total capacity. I bought a set of four 18650, one of which appeared to be bad. But after doing a repair cycle on it, it is now fully charged and healthy. Once each battery reaches full charge, it emits a 'beepung' sound which the instruction manual describes a a ringtone. A small switch on the side gives Auto charge, or full manual control, which gives you full control over voltage, display output, and a host of other features. I'm really happy to have chosen this charger, and recommend this to to anyone needing this type of charger. It's worth the few extra dollars.

This is the best charger in its price range hands down. Maybe only beat out by much more expensive chargers like the SkyRC brand. This thing will charge anything that can be charged, and it does it right. Voltage terminations are spot on for both Li-ion and NiMH, and test within tolerance on a multimeter directly after a charge. Often these multi-chemistry charging devices only get one of them right (typically Li-ion).Features such as discharge, capacity test (charge/discharge/charge), and repair are icing on the cake.A beautiful, functional and easily read LCD provides all the information you could want during a charge.UI is easy and done via large buttons on the front of the unit. The included instruction manual is easy to follow and not difficult to follow. There is also a QR code on the side you can scan with your camera. Various youtube videos are also available. There are a few cons but they aren’t enough for me to take a star away.1: This thing and its power brick are massive. Easily the largest charger in my set. I included a photo of the Vapcell vs my Tenergy combo and Panasonic NiMH charger. The Vapcell power brick is what you would expect with a laptop! Make sure you have room to store it.2: Bright display can be off putting at night. The display stays on and has to be manually turned off with a long press on the middle button. Doing this also turns off the beeping when a change finishes.3: Beeping. Why does a battery charger need beeping?? As many of others have said, it’s a real put off. With version 3 you can now disable the beeping but it also requires disabling the display backlight by holding the middle button for about 3 seconds. Also this thing beeps when powering it on for some reason. If you can deal with the above “cons” (more like annoyances) then this is the one charger to rule them all (at this price point).

This charger has exceeded all my expectations. I will be getting rid of my other chargers that can only handle AA or AAA and only one or two battery types. This charger can do it all.It is able to fit all my Lithium Ion batteries from all my devices, even my 5,000mAh batteries with room to spare. It automatically detects the battery type whether it’s Ni-MH, lithium ion and even Ni-Cd.I’ve only Used it in auto mode so far but I have played around with manual mode which allows you to specify the charging current for the most efficient and fastest charging when you need it most.Another great feature that I have already taken full advantage of is the battery drain mode and the capacity test mode. I have even already used it to repair one of my low voltage batteries that wouldn’t hold a charge. All of that technical stuff aside, the device itself has some really great design features. The cord is extra long and it has a nice big power supply. I have also noticed that despite all the work this thing is doing, it barely gets warm. I’ve had battery chargers in the past that get so hot I was almost worried they were a fire hazard… not this thing. It stay really cool given what it is doing.Overall I am really liking this charger. I can’t wait to get into the manual options to really take full advantage of everything this thing is capable of.

Bought it to use mainly with button top protected 21700 cells and so far its perfect. I have a Fenix and another make of charger/tester which are smaller than this but both of those hold the same battery size though the Fenix can hold even slightly longer cells. I've done 2 capacity tests and so far it's accurate compared to my other charger/tester. The beep sound when a battery is fully charged is so low in volume I can barely hear it but this version V3 allows you to turn the beep and display off if that bothers you. The brick ac/dc adapter has a light to let you know it has power. The manual is straight forward , correct and understandable which is uncommon with most chinese manuals. Hoping this will last for years because I like it so far and is built well. Bay 2 will read charged to 100% when battery is not fully charged. The 2nd bay on mine will show charge 100% yet the other bays will display less charge 85%-95% on the same battery. 3 stars for that It take several hrs to get some of my 21700's from 99% to 100%. I found removing the battery and then put it back into bay helps or increase the charging amps to 3000. Its not worth the money so buy a more reliable make
