I'm not exactly sure how this was marketed, but the maximum weight threshold is way below 3.3lbs I'd summarize about 1.5lbs,and that is being generous. I tried getting this to hold my 12.4in tablet (made of metal), and the arm wants to keep hanging down. The tablet itself is nowhere near 3.3lbs. So, this tells me that the arm isn't strong enough to handle much weight. Take this with a grain of salt, but just be aware of the limitations of this monitor holder.

SO far works great setup was fairly straight forward I love the joints can be tightened for my needs I wont move the screen much again so its a huge plus that its locked into place. its light weight and has a lot of articulation. The only cons I can think of is the vesa is plastic I wish it was metal but, luckily the portable monitor I am using has all 4 vesa holes so its pretty secure but, if you have one the monitors with only 2 vesa holes I'm not sure how long the plastic will hold up. It also comes with a clamp style mount that should work on most other screens with no vesa mount. The other con is still with the vesa since its made of plastic the attachment point and nut to tighten the display to the arm is all plastic i wish that the nut would have been metal at least and made bigger to be able to tighten easier like the knob on the table mount part is butterfly (two pronged knob) so its really easy to get leverage and tighten down and then easy to loosen I feel the attachment could have been the same type and it would feel more secure. Not a deal breaker and not real reasons to remove a star in my opinion because it fully functions and seems like it will hold up and is the same ball mount as most things so you can probably find a replacement easily.

Pretty weak. Had to brace it for it to hold a 15 inch portable monitor.

I'm going use this for a light weight laptop instead of a monitor. The weights are similar, so this should be ok. The joints operate smoothly out of the box, but when there's weight on them they obviously need to be tightened. These can take a lot of torque, using the allen wrench provided. the weak point of the whole thing is the swivel joint that holds up the monitor. It wants to droop forward, no matter how much I tighten it. See pic 6. This is definitely the weak point. I took that joint apart and sanded it with 120 grit paper. Roughening it helped a little, but not really enough. The plastic i still too slippery.Overall this looks nice and has a lot of adjustability. I'm giving it 4 stars for that, and keep working on the swivel joint.

I have a few small monitors in the 10-18 inch size range. Some of the monitors do not have VESA (or any other) mounting options, and require that you use them on a flat surface. I have been looking for a way to mount these above my desk surface, and this monitor holder provides a good solution. The monitor holder desk clamp and "arm" is mostly metal, with some small plastic pieces. The holder provides two mounting options: A VESA mount option if your monitor has a VESA mounting screw holes, or an expanding clamp style that grips the monitor/tablet on each end. The two mounting option's hardware is all plastic, including the VESA back panel. The monitor holder looks very nice, the red accents give it a nice touch.I tested the holder on a 12 inch screen with the VESA mount plate option. I was able to successfully mount the screen over the top of another bigger screen (see added pictures). It took seconds to clamp the holder to my desk, and a few minutes adjusting the holder's joint sections. The included tool allows you to loosen/tighten the joints.Overall, I am very happy with this monitor holder. Recommend!
