I love these SPLF reusable gallon size bags for fridge or freezer. I hate having to throw out the name brand disposable fridge and freezer bags all the time, especially since I use a lot of them. The zipper portion works well to seal them tight. I wash them by hand, dry them with a towel and put them on a rack to finish drying. They have an expanding panel at the bottom so you can put lettuce and spinach in them without crushing the delicate leaves. I have since purchased more of these gallon ones and also the quart and snack sizes.

I have tried many reusable bags and most of them stain badly and the seal ends up twisting. I haven't had the SPLF 6 Pack Reusable Gallon Freezer Bags Dishwasher Safe, Extra Thick 1 Gallon Leakproof Food Storage Bags, BPA Free Containers for Meal Prep, Vegetables, Fridge Kitchen Organization for long but they seem to handle being in the dishwasher well no issues yet. I have not used these for food yet so I am hoping when I do they actually work in the freezer.

I bought these for meal prep. These bags are good quality. Nice and thick seals nicely and you get several. Plenty of room to make and freeze waffles, egg bites, fruits, veggies, etc. Very good purchase. Easy to open, seal, and clean.

Reusable bags aren't always as great as they seem at first. I have them from a number of manufacturers and I've identified some issues that tend to crop up. These are really nice bags. I'm listing the features I noted on these SPLF gallon bags below, starting with the only problem I've found. Overall, I do really like these bags and I think they're among the better ones I've gotten. PEVA isn't my first choice in kitchen materials, but I think that it's better than most other plastics and other materials come with their own issues (like do I really want to store a bunch of breakable glass containers to store all our extra food?).CLEANINGCleaning tends to be a problem with a lot of the reusable bags. The only kind I've found that I can thoroughly, 100% get clean are bulky silicone ones that stand up, but they come with a whole host of different problems. These are a bit difficult to clean because they're folded twice at the bottom so there are four little corners that are impossible to get a dish rag into. They're not as bad as some bags, though, because if you squeeze the corners, you can open them up enough so that you should be able to get the corner pretty clean with a dish brush.PLASTICThe bags are flexible but not as stiff as some. They're stiff enough that they can stand up by themselves when a reasonable amount of food is in them. I've had other bags where the plastic was very stiff, sort of like a thin version of what a water bottle is made of. They get permanent creases if they're folded and I don't like them. These SPLF bags are a good compromise between stiffness and flexibility.SEALI did the watertight test by putting a couple of inches of water into the bag and then holding it upside down for a couple of minutes. Water didn't leak out. The seal on these bags is unusually easy to close for reusable bags. I've had a lot from other companies that I just couldn't use because they were so hard to seal. Sealing these bags is about the same as sealing a disposable bag. Be aware that you need to keep the seal clean, though, if you want it to close properly.

I decided to give these gallon bags a try as I've read good things about PEVA and have come to believe that, along with being reusable, this material is better for the planet. I think this product is going to work out very well in my household. They can be cleaned by hand or dishwasher and should not be exposed to high temps, no food, washing or rinsing over 140º. The zipper seal works easily, stays in the track and is secure. These have no odor or smell and indicate that they're food grade and free of PVC, BPA, chloride and lead.Should I decide to store broth or other things in the freezer I will likely place the bag into a recycled paper bag to save it from getting bumped around and eventually nicked from the frozen solid contents. I'm confident that these will last longer and be more sanitary than reusing regular gallon plastic bags. Plus they'll be great in the pantry to store things like flour and corn meal; they'll collapse as contents are depleted - unlike cannisters that take big space even when there's only an inch of food stuffs in the bottom.I think these are a good value as many households spend more on gallon bags in just a couple of months and just one of these is promoted as replacing as many as 300 disposable baggies.
