It was only a matter of time before SRAM's fantastic, pro-level Red 22 and Force 22 drivetrains trickled down into the technological pool that would become the sport-level Rival 22 groupset. The SRAM Rival 22 Front Derailleur captures many of the same design features that make those more expensive derailleurs so great, only without breaking the bank. The most critical element to understand about SRAM's new 22-speed front derailleurs is what they call their Yaw feature. SRAM's Yaw means that the derailleur adjusts its yaw relative to the chain line. In other words, the derailleur cage rotates to align perfectly with the chain in any given position. This not only improves shifting accuracy and speed, it eliminates the need to "trim" the derailleur to prevent the maddening chain rub that can occur toward the back of the derailleur's cage, regardless of what chainring/cog combination you select -- a welcome improvement over virtually all previous drivetrains on the market. All of SRAM's 22-speed front derailleurs, including this Rival version, also feature the revolutionary integrated Chain Spotter, which protects against chain drop, against scratches, and against frustration. The Chain Spotter can be removed, or adjusted independently of the derailleur's position, so it's configurable to any frameset. The derailleur's steel cage is stiff, tough, and has precision alignment markings in the appropriate areas to help with proper installation. The SRAM Rival 22 Front Derailleur's cage has a silver finish, while its hardware and the Chain Spotter are black. It is designed exclusively for use with SRAM 22-speed X-Glide R chainrings and SRAM 22-speed shifters and drivetrain components. It comes only in a braze-on version, with clamp adapters available separately.

Ottimo deragliatore. Va saputo regolare perché differisce dagli altri. Io tra l’altro l’ho montato con leve Sram Red 11v ma corone Shimano e funziona alla perfezione.

Yaw front derailleurs can be a little fiddly to set up. Generally speaking, they're very particular in terms of position. What that means is that you need to be particularly vigilant to line the cage position lines properly and it's absolutely crucial the top of the derailleur be no more than 1-3 mm above the chain teeth, at the longest tooth. I, myself, line the derailleur exactly 2mm above the longest tooth. You also need to be absolutely certain you've set your high and low set points to be 1-2 mm away from your chain in the low setting, while ensuring it's 2-3 mm away in the high setting. If you do the above, shifting should be very good at all times and you should experience no chain rub. The only real negative for me is that while shifting perfectly, yaw derailleurs are a bit clunky in terms of feel.In sum, recommended, but be sure you take it slow and are willing to be a little more particular than you'd be with, say, a Shimano front derailleur.Recommended4 starsCheers!

Genuinely surprised at the performance. The front derailleur took a while to set up, but afterwards there is never a mis-shift. The shifts are all crisp even under SOME pressure. It's also great that there is no need to trim the front derailleur: the shifter will only ever have "big ring" or "small ring" positions. With the Yaw technology, I only hear chain rub on big ring with the two biggest cogs or small ring and the smallest cog. This may be due to my lack of skills in setting up the FD since I am no seasoned mechanic, but still impressive for only rubbing at the extremes.Current set-up:Rival 22: Shifters, Brakes, FD, RDShimano: Ultegra chain, Ultegra cassette, 105 crankset
