Works great. Bad packaging tough. No insulation so it could easily have been damaged through transit.

This is a fantastic DI box for the money.I have A/B'd mine with a Radial Stagebug (which is known to be a good DI box) using an organ, and while the Radial is a touch clearer, with ever so slightly more defined attack on each note, the difference is really pretty small. Turns out that when it comes to spending money on DI boxes, the law of diminishing returns is very much at play.I was expecting a much bigger difference...I thought perhaps the Stagg would suffer with loud, bassy signals and yes; the Radial is more defined, but the Stagg did perfectly well. I didn't hear any saturation or weakness with bass sounds; just ever so slightly less definition. The Stagg actually sounds ever so slightly more vintage than the Radial: There is a slight emphasis in the lowish mids with the Stagg, and a slight blur in the sound as opposed to the clear definition of the Radial. But, these differences are really very small indeed. In fact, using the Radial and the Stagg as a stereo pair was perfectly fine and not lopsided at all.I've not A/B'd the two with any electro/acoustic instruments...perhaps the differences between the two would be greater...but I have used the Stagg in live sound with mandolins and acoustic guitars and it's been up to the job.The ground lift switch works well and lifts the ground on the XLR out as well as the pass-through without otherwise affecting the sound at all.My only criticisms of the Stagg are that on mine, the mono/stereo switch seems to be marked the wrong way round: When set to stereo, both XLR outputs contain the same sound. And when I received my Stagg DI box, a transformer was rattling around inside the case; still working fine, but loose. I stuck it back onto the case with a bit of araldite. It seems pretty well built (apart from the loose transformer!) and the metal case is sturdy. I doubt the switches will fail for a long time as the buttons are pressed so rarely. The plastic jack sockets feel solid and the XLR outputs seem strong enough too. If anything breaks on this, it'll be an easy DIY fix too.I'm not regretting buying my Radial DI, despite the cost. But I must admit, this Stagg DI box appears to be almost as good as the Radial. So, for the price, thoroughly recommended!
