Occasionally I have to use a SMD component in a through hole project. Owning a board like this proves to be convenient.

I'm likely using these in a unconventional fashion: I've recently been honing my SMD soldering skills and have been wanting to apply it to a project. Most of my electronic projects turn out to be LED powered lights, usually featuring 3D printed enclosures. I prefer to use white or blue LEDs, since their forward voltages tend to be around 3-3.2 volts, which pairs nicely with two standard batteries (AA, AAA, C, D sizes) in series. I wondered if I could find a breakout board that would let me wire some SMD LEDs in parallel, and found these.I haven't finalized any designs yet, but I soldered some LEDs to a couple of these boards, along with some of the included headers, and tested the circuit via a breadboard, and it works just fine. I like the fact that the boards aren't preassembled with the headers, since I'll likely not use the headers in my design. Also, since the pads on these boards are fairly big and so close together to accommodate various SMD package sizes, this makes soldering on them easy. I'm really happy I found these! I'll probably use a couple in light projects, and save the rest for other projects down the road that may integrate SMD and THT components.
