Another precision item from Starrett - quality throughout, and the price was reasonable (couldn't make it myself for that price). Does the same job as the equivalent item in an older indicator kit, but better.

This rod unit is really nice. I haven't found a unit I would rather use. The rods are perfect in girth and length. The snug is the tightest of fits, and it doesn't take a ton of pressure to make it tight like it needs to be. Smooth, glistening, straight, hard, and just enough oil to keep it clean and smooth without making a mess. These rods slide through the snug easily and effortlessly, but when you twist the knob it holds firm and won't let go until you make it.This works great with other Starrett products as well. I use it a lot with their shaft alignment tool and dial gauges. This one piece though has added a lot of versatility to what I can do with shafts and assemblies.

I bought this because I needed some new snugs and decided that a couple more rods would be nice too. It sure is nice to have quality snugs and rods when trying to do precise measuring.

This item was exactly as expected. Nice fit and finish. Works well. And the price was better than anywhere else I checked.
