I needed cabled headphones with good mic for the office - I'm in an environment where Bluetooth just can't hold a connection due to RF noise. These are very comfortable, sound good, and the mic seems to work well (nobody's complained about my voice after a few months of use so I'll assume they sound good).A few negatives, though: Due to the external DAC, I'm unable to to control the volume from my keyboard's volume buttons. I wish the cord between DAC and headphones was about 2' longer. It looks like a "standard" 4-pole "TRRS" cable should work, so I'll try ordering an 8-10' cable to use instead and will update if there's issues there. Also, a PSA: There's volume knobs on both the DAC - but also on the headphones. I forgot about the headphone one, and was going to say these weren't loud enough until I re-noticed the headphone adjustment when looking at the cable.

These came in like new condition and have held up well with my teenage son using them daily. Steel Series are the only gaming headphones I will buy as they are the only ones that really last. Great sound quality and hot swappable batteries make these the perfect gaming headphones

The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gaming Headset stands as a testament to cutting-edge audio technology, delivering an immersive gaming experience like no other. While the headset's performance is truly exceptional, some users may find that extended use can lead to discomfort around the ears.First and foremost, the audio quality of the Arctis Nova 7 is nothing short of phenomenal. Equipped with high-fidelity drivers and DTS Headphone:X v2.0 surround sound, the headset reproduces every detail of in-game audio, allowing gamers to pinpoint enemy positions with remarkable accuracy. The bass response is punchy, the mids are clear, and the highs are crisp, resulting in a balanced and captivating sound signature that brings games to life. The wireless connectivity ensures seamless freedom of movement, eliminating the need for pesky cords and cables that often limit gameplay flexibility. Additionally, the ClearCast bidirectional microphone ensures clear voice communication, making team coordination effortless during intense gaming sessions. The design of the Arctis Nova 7 is sleek and sophisticated, featuring a suspension-style headband that evenly distributes the weight, reducing pressure on the crown of the head. The breathable fabric used for the ear cushions also adds a layer of comfort during shorter gaming sessions. However, the main caveat lies in the ear cushions. For some users, the ear cups might cause discomfort during extended gameplay, as the headset's clamping force might feel too tight on the ears. SteelSeries could further improve the ear cushion design to address this issue and ensure a more comfortable fit for extended gaming sessions.Despite this drawback, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 excels in various aspects, offering a premium audio experience, top-notch microphone performance, and convenient wireless connectivity. The SteelSeries Engine software also allows users to customize their audio settings, providing a personalized gaming experience that caters to individual preferences. In conclusion, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless Gaming Headset is a remarkable choice for gamers seeking exceptional audio quality and wireless freedom. While it may cause some discomfort for those with sensitive ears during long gaming sessions, the headset's performance, build quality, and thoughtful features make it an excellent investment for gaming enthusiasts. With minor improvements to the ear cushion design, SteelSeries could elevate the comfort level of the Arctis Nova 7 to even greater heights.

I wanted a headset that did everything, and this was the closest I was ever going to get. When a device does everything, at least 1 feature is going to suffer. Luckily most of the things that suffered aren't as critical to me. I end up plugging the wireless receiver into the various devices I use this headset - like my work laptop, PC, and PS5. I use Bluetooth to connect to my phone so that I can listen to music at the same time.--- Wireless/Bluetooth: 5/5 ---This headset has a surprisingly long range with both wireless and Bluetooth. I work upstairs and I was able to still hear my meeting (from my laptop) and music (phone Bluetooth) when I went downstairs, through the master bedroom, through the bathroom, and finally started to break up when I went into the closet. Though it still didn't disconnect. The signal returned when going in the reverse direction.--- Simultaneous dual-channel: 4/5 ---This does what everyone says it does. You have a wireless receiver channel and a Bluetooth channel. You can do a variety of things with this. Immediately a phone comes to mind when we think Bluetooth, but I could plug the wireless receiver into my PS5 and connect to Bluetooth on my PC if I really wanted to. I personally mainly use my wireless receiver for most things, and then use my phone Bluetooth for things like music and YouTube videos. There is the CHATMIX dial where you can increase game volume while decreasing chat volume. The functionality of this feature is much different than what I expected. I expected this to control the volume between the Wireless and Bluetooth volumes, but that isn't the case. This dial works specifically with the SteelSeries GG software, and you have to configure which inputs on your computer (and only your computer) are game volume, and which are chat volume. Essentially this means that this is limited to something like having your game volume and Discord as the chat volume. Disappointing, but I work around it by simply adjusting my phone volume with the phone itself. This means I never use the dial for anything. If you wanted this feature on PS5, you'd have to get the PlayStation version of this headset. I wanted versatility so I went with the PC version.--- Music/Sound: 3.5/5 ---Many reviews I saw said that they preferred the default sound settings (flat EQ). So when I tried this headset out for music, I was immediately disappointed. I might even say disgusted with how much I paid. I very much had the impression that I would be returning this headset. I also didn't feel like the headset got loud enough, because there wasn't enough life in the music/sound. There is a volume limiter in the SteelSeries GG software, which you can turn off to enable the sound to get louder. This is a safety feature that SteelSeries puts in so you don't blow out your ears on accident. If you turn this off in the software and apply the settings, thankfully it makes the change in the headset itself and the setting will stay with the headset when you plug it into another device, even without the SteelSeries GG software (PS5). Read on to find out why I ended up turning the limiter back on.Since the sound was terrible to me, I decided to go through the other presets and "Smiley" was at least presentable and gave me a bit of hope. I have a beginner's level of experience messing with EQ settings, so I ended up playing with it a bit and ended up with an EQ setup that I quite liked (reference image). Now, most of the vocal range (250 - 2k) is set to negative, so singers voices don't stand out as much and so the sound still isn't as good as I would like to be, but it's definitely passable. Point being, if you take the time to play with the EQ you can probably get it to where you will like it if this headset has the features you can't live without.Once I had the EQ set the way I liked it, bass was punchier and I didn't need to turn up the volume nearly as much. There are system sounds in the headset, like connecting/disconnecting, which are very loud with the limiter off, and volume turned up past the limited maximum. This made it an easy choice to turn the limiter back on. I've yet to put my headset back up to limited max volume (unless I had my device volume too low).I was considering rating the gaming aspect of this headset, but it really is just a continuation of sound and dual-channel sections. Final Fantasy 16 requires bass and clarity for me to feel that immersion into the story and cinematics. When the EQ was flat, it was unplayable to me. When I set it to my custom EQ, it was a lot more enjoyable. I haven't used this with Discord on my PC yet while playing a game, and I haven't played any FPS to be able to comment on anything like that.--- Comfy-ness: 5/5 ---This headset is extremely comfortable. It's a bit heavy, but my neck doesn't get tired while wearing it. And I do wear it for the majority of the day. It stays on my head fairly well. The only time it has fallen off is when I step away and do push-ups while still wearing it. It actually usually only falls off after I've done about 8, as opposed to just falling off right away - if that's any indicator.--- Noise-Cancelling: 5/5 ---I was right next to my wife and was playing music at a reasonable volume and I could see her lips moving, but couldn't hear her. Not only that, but I had her try them on and I couldn't really hear the music, which surprised me!--- Microphone: 4/5 ---Take my rating with a grain of salt. I use the microphone for work and it's fine. It's not really the quality of the mic that I like or dislike, but the live feedback and features on it (through the software). You can set how much of your voice you hear in your headphones. So if you don't want to hear yourself at all, you can do that. If you only want to hear a hint of your voice so you audibly know how loud you are, or if you're off mute, you can do that. I personally have a separate mic that I use for recordings on my PC.As a specific case, I am learning how to sing and I'm recording myself with a better microphone. However, I use also use this headset's mic simply as a light feedback so I can immediately tell if I'm on pitch or not, instead of cringing when I play it back, after the fact.On the flip side, the feedback isn't incredibly intuitive when it comes to noise-cancelling. It seems like there's software that does the noise-cancelling post-capture. It also seems like what I hear in my ears is the pre-noise-cancelled sound going into the microphone. For example, I can hear myself typing in the live feedback, but when I listen to the recording it is either much quieter or non-existent. Kind of an odd design, but probably has some purpose.
